Do be so quick to do that, they've charged me a 4 figure sum to have one put back in today!

Cannot get in anywhere, I’ve resigned myself to the fact it will drop out of its own accord and I’ll get some turkey teeth later this year !

Re: Moans and Pet Hates - Part 8

The neurologist I saw in December wants me to have some MRI's (I am seeing him for two issues at opposite ends of my torso. I told him that my pacemaker leads were incompatible but he insisted.

I got BUPA approval and let him make arrangements. He favoured a unit in Basingstoke as they have a more open scanner. Nothing.
Then I get a message that Basingstoke can't take me as they can't deal with pacemakers and that they will now book with Spire (Southampton), all quiet.
Eventually I get in contact with his private secretary and she finds an email in the wrong box about the Spire and she deals with it.
Message from Spire, they need a copy of my pacemaker "certificate". So I scan it and email to them. They can't open the attachment can I send a PDF. It is a PDF. So I email it from my PC, no good. I email it to work. OK. I email from work, no good. Finally I use GMail web interface CC to work. I get it OK at work and finally they get it.

Sorry we can't do an MRI because although your pacemaker is OK the leads aren't, passing back to consultant for alternative imaging.

Being billed over £2k for vet bills. They waived a (small) fee because they were being underhanded which they've apologized for. Then they emailed back and asked for a payment £1.44 for a tin of cat food. I ain't knocking it, I just find it all comical. Still, wasn't sure it was right to put it here as "pet" hates or in the joke section.

Yep, trying to sort that out now with the vets. The cat had to go to 2 vets. One of those Vets put the insurance claim through on our behalf then billed us for it without signing the consent form. The other want us to go down a pay in full then put the claim through. Both are part of the same company though. So at the mo it's been a bit of a mess. Not exactly what we wanted after the loss our beloved cat.

Get a hamster.

If there ill, just hit them with a heavy book.

Joking, I have a Syrian Hamster "Chewie".

He'll let me pick him up.

I did have a scare earlier he wriggled free and jumped, luckily it was his food drawer he landed in.

he was in flight mode, i managed to pick him back up and he bit me.

My fault, I should have left him be.

Being mostly housebound, even a goldfish is now an option. It'll still be something to talk to at least.

My niece's hamster Bear died yesterday, he was 10 months old, and possibly had a stroke, as he was wobbly when walking.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates - Part 8

HMRC!!!!

Just received a letter, stating I owed them a reasonable sum in unpaid tax for 2018-2019 (the year I retired, and started taking some of my pensions).

It was a follow-up to a letter I received exactly one year ago, about the same subject/amount, which I believed I had resolved (error on one of my pension providers, who had wrongly sent info to HMRC stating I had received a pension lump sum, which I hadn’t). So, this time last year, I contacted the pension provider, who emailed me back stating they had reversed the incorrect EYU (Earlier Year Update) and sent it to HMRC, and when I checked my HMRC online account two weeks later, the incorrect payment (and the matching tax liability) had gone, so I obviously assumed the issue was resolved.

Lo and behold, a letter arrives today from HMRC, telling me to pay up tout-suite (a year later), otherwise it may get passed to a credit collection agency.

I rang HMRC (first attempt was 53 minutes on hold, got through to an advisor, and about 4 minutes into the call, the line went dead and I was disconnected) - second attempt on hold for 51 minutes, got through to an advisor, explained the issue, and he said he could see the issue hadn't been resolved, and the tax liability was still outstanding. He couldn’t explain why there was nothing on my personal tax account on their system, but there was on their’s, so he is sending me (by snail mail) the information they have (which I can’t see).

The amusing (for lack of a better phrase) was the fact they want payment within 28 days of postage date (15th March), but the info being sent to me could take up to three weeks to arrive (considering their earlier letter took 6 days between date of issue and date of arrival, probably quite realistic).

Contacted the pension provider, explained the situation, now waiting to hear back from them.

The challenge is that there is no way to contact HMRC PAYE people except by phone, as emails can’t be sent/received to/from them with supporting evidence, and there is no postal contact info…

Re: Moans and Pet Hates - Part 8

I work in a school as a Network and AV Manager...

You know it's not going to be your day when today is the end of term, the executive head is doing a special assembly, I've done sound check, checked Microphones, laptop all setup, everything working like a charm, and then when all is about to happen and the moment comes..... the system basically says to me "I'm shutting down, screw you" and it dies on me.

600 kids and staff looking at you wondering wtf whilst you are slowly wishing for a hole to swallow you up and can sense your hair turning slightly grey with stress.

Got it going in the end, but really don't need that on a Friday.
