Re: What is a VPN?
Can I just ask why your are buying a vpn/firewall? Seems an odd purchase. I mean we run ISA Server here but we are a business and do use VPN. Would it not have been better to ask here what the benefits of one could be for you before buying unnecessary kit?
FYI most routers/wireless routers have this function built in.

You type http://www.google.co.uk into your browser and when Google is loaded you type VPN in the search box....and low and behold the first entry:

I can connect to my server through the web. I have dynDNS on it, but I'd be able to do it by IP as well.
