FLAC music files play order issues
I've been reconverting my CDs to FLAC which my SYNC 3 system Supports.
However after converting them using FreeRIPMP3, which add track numbers, it plays them in a different order.
Which can be a issue if playing a live show like We Will Rock You, I tried renaming the track name, by adding 01- etc to the front, but this doesn't help.
Any ideas before I do anymore?

Re: FLAC music files play order issues
Why use a 3rd party app? Just use FLAC Frontend.

Re: FLAC music files play order issues
there's a track number field in the flac, like mp3s have, maybe the encoder has done it wrong, so you'll have to change it in winamp or somehting else?

Re: FLAC music files play order issues
I have used mp3 tag which seems to allow me to add missing info.

It's the encoder/decoder check out the link for full details.
If you use FLAC Frontend to encode the playback should be in the correct order.

Re: FLAC music files play order issues
The weird thing is the track listing for FLAC orders the track listing thus.
01, 10, 11, 12, 02, 03 etc
But it does have the track number in the tag info.
I wonder if the FLAC has a part that MP3Tag cannot see?
I have a look at Freemake.

Unfortunately it's for my cars system.
I think I has solved it, but still trying to work out why.
Some of the FLACs that didn't display the correct order had the track numbers as 1/5, 2/5 etc, but when I changed them to 1,2,3 tht are now in the correct order.
I'll have to see if there are any MP3's labelled the same way.

Re: FLAC music files play order issues
sorry what I meant is use vlc on your pc to check the tags for the files
my mp3 player is fussy, it's quite old but only seems to like the tags if I use the really old mp3tag tools program to tag files.

Hmmm, when I use the frontend to encode my tracks appear as 01,02,03 etc. They all then appear and play in the correct order in the 3rd party FLAC player.
This is what I meant when I suggested using the front end, just encode with that and you should be good to go.

Re: FLAC music files play order issues
I would suspect that they play in alphanumeric order so if there's less than 10 tracks then 1,2,3 etc will play in that order, with more than 9 tracks they need to be named with the leading zero as suggested by pip. Otherwise track 10, 11 etc will play directly after track 1.

Re: FLAC music files play order issues
I'd also suggest adding disk number <disk#>-<track#>-trackname so in a multi disk album you don't have two track 01's. Unless you number across albums but then you may need 2 leading zeros if more than 99 tracks.
I'd also love more players to honour the track details in the file metadata, I'd also love the players to play long pieces that are broken into tracks on CD's as a single piece with no gaps. Long classical tracks can often have this or live recordings. They play nicely on the CD but convert to digital files and you get gaps. Crossfading isn't the answer either, sounds odd. But you want the separation sometimes.

Re: FLAC music files play order issues
If the player is making a bog of it try selecting the last track in explorer, then <shift> click the first track and then select "play with" etc. Explorer will honour the track numbering alphanumerically.
Note if you'd clicked the first track and then the last. Explorer will play the last track and then the rest in order
