FRANKEL SET FOR NEWMARKET SPIN

Frankel will continue his preparations for the Qipco Champion Stakes with a gallop at Newmarket on Wednesday morning.

The world's highest-rated racehorse will be joined by three-parts brother and regular work companion Bullet Train on the Rowley Mile at 8.30am, ahead of what is likely to be the Sir Henry Cecil-trained colt's final race at Ascot on Saturday week.

Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Solemia could bring down the curtain on her racing career with one final run in the Far East.

Trainer Carlos Laffon-Parias and her owners the Wertheimer brothers have decided a trip to America for the Breeders' Cup will come too soon for their filly, who caught the Japanese runner Orfevre in the final few strides of Sunday's race.

Solemia is set to join the family's successful breeding operation at the end of the year but they have already unearthed a potential replacement with Laffon-Parias in Silasol, who just repelled her stablemate Topaze Blanche in the Group One Prix Marcel Boussac earlier in the afternoon.

OLYMPIC IN HAT FOR DONCASTER GLORY

Richard Hannon's Olympic Glory could bid for more Group One honours in the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster on October 27.

The Choisir colt won the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp on Sunday and his only defeat came at the hands of Dawn Approach in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Aidan O'Brien's Kingsbarns was introduced into the betting at around 14-1 for the 2013 Investec Derby after an impressive victory in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Navan.

The Galileo colt holds Classic entries next season and while those dreams are still some way off, he could hardly have made a better introduction.

APPROACH STANDS FIRM IN DEWHURST

Dawn Approach is one of six runners left in the Dubai Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday.

The Jim Bolger-trained youngster is unbeaten in five starts, including in the Vincent O'Brien Stakes at the Curragh last month, and is currently ante-post favourite for next year's 2000 Guineas. Bolger, who has won four of the last six Dewhursts, is also represented by Leitir Mor.

Long Run has the John Smith's Grand National as a possible back-up plan if he is unable to contest the Gold Cup next March.

The Nicky Henderson-trained seven-year-old is due to reappear in the Betfair Chase at Haydock next month, after which all roads will again lead to the Cheltenham Festival. He won the Gold Cup two seasons ago but could only finish third to Synchronised in March.

Should he suffer a setback, however, connections could instead point Long Run towards Aintree.

Jim Bolger is a very short price to clinch his fifth Dubai Dewhurst Stakes in seven years at Newmarket as his smart colt Dawn Approach puts his unbeaten record on the line.

Two of the trainer's winners became champion two-year-old - Teofilo and Dawn Approach's sire New Approach - and that accolade could be heading back to Coolcullen again with another good performance.

Bolger also saddles the experienced Leitir Mor, who acted as a lead horse for Dawn Approach in a serious piece of work last week and is not expected to trouble the Godolphin-owned odds-on favourite.

Clive Cox was reassured by an advance inspection of the ground at Newmarket as Reckless Abandon attempts to give the trainer his first domestic Group One in the Vision.ae Middle Park Stakes.

In a race which looks just as exciting as the Dewhurst on the same card, Cox has seen his regular jockey Adam Kirby opt to partner Marco Botti's Moohaajim instead of his unbeaten colt.

The champion trainer says a decision is "still to be made" as to whether the multiple Grade One winner Kauto Star will stay in training this season, after being pulled up on his most recent start in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, but he cantered 123 horses on Tuesday and still has strength in his team.

Aidan O'Brien's Imperial Monarch reappears in the Canadian International at Woodbine on Sunday.

The Galileo colt has won three of his four starts, including the Grand Prix de Paris, but he has sat on the sidelines since July as his stablemates have contested a host of top European races.

Instead, he heads over to North America for a race the Europeans have a good record in - and which O'Brien won with Joshua Tree two years ago and Ballingarry in 2002. He will be ridden by Ryan Moore.

Reckless Abandon maintained his unbeaten record with a gutsy display in the Vision.ae Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket.

Clive Cox's juvenile, already a Group One winner in France, was ridden by Gerald Mosse as Adam Kirby chose to partner Moohaajim for Marco Botti.

The 9-4 joint-favourites fought out the finish, but as they met the rising ground Reckless Abandon kept on pulling out more to see off Moohaajim by a neck. Aidan O'Brien's Gale Force Ten was another neck away in third.
