Scottish refs vote to strike

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...em/9214212.stm

Quote:
Fixtures in Scotland face possible postponement next weekend after Category One referees voted to strike.
Scottish match officials are upset with the avalanche of flak that has come their way this season.
BBC Scotland has learned that officials are concerned that their integrity is constantly being questioned by some clubs and individuals.
Congratulations Celtic, you've ensured that the massive conspiracy against you (except the games you've won of course) gets maximum exposure as it won't be the football people are talking about next weekend.

Yeah Celtic how dare you feel persecuted after having people like Jim Farry and Bobby Tait running and officiating the game up there

Re: Scottish refs vote to strike

So its all the fault of someone who is dead and a referee that retired 12 years ago.

I knew tinfoil was in high demand in the east end of Glasgow but assumed it was the heroin and not to fashion hats with.

So the bigotry and bias died with Farry and retired with Tait then?

I'd challenge the assumption that bigotry and bias existed with Farry and Tait for a start. Farry was a petty jobsworth but his handling of the Jorge Cadete affair was more to do with his interpretation of the rules rather than a hatred for celtic.

Nothing supports the notion that Farry acted deliberately to hold up Cadete's registration out of "anti-Celtic" bias.
Even so a team with a largely catholic support moaning that a referee who happens to be a teacher of RE at a catholic school is against them just shows how paranoid they are.

Celtic (and Rangers) have always had a small unsavoury element in their support. In the last year or so the celtic minority have become more and more vocal and disturbing with the IRA supporting chants and songs, smoke flares, attacking of stewards and general hooliganism becoming more and more evident.

Their dispute of every decision that goes against them whilst mysteriously staying quiet on decisions in their favour isn't doing them any favours.

Paranoid, when Tait openly boasts about never having given a penalty against Rangers and regularly attends Rangers supporters functions as an after dinner speaker, could all be legit I guess but tbh I would be asking questions to especially as this sort of thing has followed Scottish football for generations.

And retired 12 years ago...

Still I suppose it could all be a huge conspiracy with referees like Iain Brines wearing celtic tracksuits to training sessions just to throw people off the scent...

Doesn't really matter when he retired, as I said this sort of thing has been going on for generations, the strike gives the perfect opportunity to investigate all accusations independently and perhaps put them to bed for a while/ever.

It's only been going on for the generations when Celtic aren't winning.

When they won 9 in a row were the masons deciding to give them a break?

Mysteriously the years they are on top there hasn't been a wholesale change of referees. Mistakes happen in football, thats a given. If you dwell on the mistakes against you whilst ignoring the ones in your favour then a section of your support will always jump on the conspiracy bandwagon.

Looks like the games might go ahead with foreign refs.

And relax.

Murder? I missed that. Assuming you are talking about the Dundee Utd game he actually got the penalty decision right but let's not let that get in the way of a witch hunt.

Bigot? He forwarded on a mildly amusing email of questionable taste, hardly bigoted. I assume in your wanting everyone sacked for bigotry you'd be happy for Neil Lennon to be fired for the time he called a rangers player a dirty orange *bleep*?

Anyway back to reality. Some games are going ahead with foreign refs, some have been binned due to the weather and in one of the games the fourth official is female so any injuries could see a top flight game ref'd by a woman for the first time ever.

Re: Scottish refs vote to strike

He (allegedly) forwarded on an email making comment on the Catholic church covering up child abuse. Similar jokes have been on Have I got news for you, the front cover of private eye and countless other forms of media.
Should everyone making jokes about religion be fired? Maybe you would like to answer my question about Lennon?

The penalty was a penalty? Not according to most journalists and the SFA is wasn't

McDonald’s censure amounts to no more than being marked down for having awarded the penalty kick wrongly in the first place
