Re: The New Doctor (Peter Capaldi)

He was rescued by Tennant in fires of pompeii. He also killed himself in children of the earth. They explained it when Gwen joined torchwood after starring in a who episode. Can't see them referring to any of his previous appearances as it's not really possible to do so.

Re: The New Doctor (Peter Capaldi)

Hopefully there will be a few post watershed episodes so Peter Capaldi can add a few Malcolm Tucker style comments to his dialogue such as where's my sonic Effin screwdriver?

Remember though it was confirmed when Romana regenerated she chose a previously visited character to look like as the actress had already appeared in Wno.

So really the Doctor whould be able to regenerate and look like someone he has met before.

Re: The New Doctor (Peter Capaldi)

Yes, wasn't he in Children of Earth? One of the best pieces of British Sci-Fi ever.

It's a great choice.

I was never a fan of Matt Smith, he did get better and his last season was his best.

But I really think Capaldi could be truly great in he part

I wasn't sure about Capaldi at first ,but thinking about it i think he will be ok and i think he will bring out a slighter darker side of the Doctor

He is also the same age that Hartnell was when he got the role.

There have been a couple of Doctors with a dark side already. Colin Bakers 6th Doctor was pretty insane and dark at times and McCoys 7th had a very dark and mysterious albeit somes rather fun side to him.

I think Capaldi is going to be great, can only wonder what his costume will look like.

Re: The New Doctor (Peter Capaldi)

I'm glad it's Capaldi, always liked him. Stopped watching the Matt Smith ones, nothing against him per se, just got fed up with all the running about and shouting. Hopefully Capaldi will be a little more dignified.

Moffat has already hinted that the aim is to do D12 as "a young man in an old body", which of course is what Hartnell's doctor was. Some of the uber-geeks are reading a lot into the Hartnellesque way Capaldi clutched his lapels when being unveiled.

Re: The New Doctor (Peter Capaldi)

Personally I would have liked a young Dr... (ooer missus) - I think having the younger actors play The Doctor is partially what's responsible for re-igniting the series.

And they're also responsible for the influx of this type of fangirl..

From what i read, Moffat always wanted an older Doctor during his tenure, but was over ruled by the BBC who were worried they'd lose their younger audience.
