Dropping FTP speed in one direction

I'm having some FTP problems...

Set-up:

Netgear DG834G ADSL modem / wireless-G router / gateway

Desktop PC with XP Home SP2, connected to the gateway via wireless-G, using WPA.

Modded XBox, running XBox Media Centre, connected to the gateway via ethernet.

XBox 360, connected to the gateway via ethernet.

Laptop with XP Home SP2, connected to the gateway via wireless-G, using WPA.

I've been trying to FTP some 350MB video files from the modded XBox to the desktop PC, but been having issues. Namely, it'll transfer a small amount, but then the speed will drop & drop & drop until it hits zero & nothing else gets transferred.

If I try transferring in the other direction, from desktop to XBox, it works fine.

It's always worked fine before. I can't think of anything that's changed

XBox Media Centre on the modded XBox has a built-in FTP server.

The FTP client I'm using on the desktop PC is FlashFXP.

Re: Dropping FTP speed in one direction

Anyone?

I also tried again, but using an ethernet cable instead of the wireless connection. Same problem - the speed drops down to zero when going from XBox to PC.

Sounds like a problem with the Xbox to me. Can you / have you tried FTP-ing files to/from other computers on your network?

Re: Dropping FTP speed in one direction

Can't, unfortunately. The laptop's not mine, & the XBox360 can't be FTPd to/from.

It's OK if I want to FTP a small file back from the XBox to the PC, as there's no time for the speed to drop. But anything even remotely big & the speed drops down to zero well before the file has been transferred.

It didn't used to do this, as I was previously able to FTP stuff in both directions without problem. Can't remember when I last tried though, before the recent attempts when I noticed the problem, so I'm unsure as to what, if anything, would've changed.
