Question Linksys BB Router - 'Internet Connection Light'

Should the internet connection light be flashing while no one is accessing it (not being used on the PC's its connected to?).

Is someone else logging onto my BB connection?

Ash

yes, it is 'background' network traffic, nothing to worry about - however, if you start uploading without permission, then that is a problem & the main reason some people run a software firewall to complement the hardware NAT function of the router

Sorry about my ignorance but could you please put that in a bit of layman terms. Uploading, do you mean 'transmit' data to NTL servers or 'receive' ?

How do you overcome the software firewall ? What it NAT?

Thanks, Ash

Re: Linksys BB Router - 'Internet Connection Light'

Upload is to transmit from your computer to another machine, download is to receive data (in laymans terms lol).
NAT is a kind of hardware firewall built into a router normally.
As to overcoming the software firewall, you don't need to, it's there doing it's job.
