Satellite doesn't suffer area faults like cable. If you're getting no signal, start your diagnostic efforts at your STB, then work your way up the cable to your communal dish. Ask any of your neighbours who use the dish if they are also having problems.

Re: Freesat in Swansea

It's possible the dish has shifted or the LNB has gone kaput. Either way, you'll need to raise it with whoever manages the building.

Re: Freesat in Swansea

i think the LNB has moved on the dish. I looked at it earlier and it seems the LNB is now pointing sideways.

Re: Freesat in Swansea

Swivel the LNB back around so that it is vertical with the cable leaving the base in a downward direction. It sounds like something knocked it and it's skewed out of line with the incoming signal.

Does your building have a person responsible for property management?

Except the LNB is never vertical unless the satellite is directly above you on the earths rotation. LNB's for Sky/Freesat have to be set on the correct "skew" angle for the Astra 2 cluster (around 15 - 22 degrees from the vertical).

Its all been sorted now.

In the electric cupboard that some kind of powered box that all the flats are connected to which then connects to the dish, this was at fault it was tuff for them to find but luckily they were checking out another flat when the fault occurred, the signal just totally drops.

Agreed, but it's easier to say that than say "remember to apply a few degrees of skew". It will work even if it's a couple of degrees out. My old 60cm dish was fine on Analogue up to about 10 - 15 degrees of skew without too many sparklies and darklies appearing. At least moving it to vertical would most likely confirm the issue. It can be tweaked later.
