Re: US Election 2016
As above a lot of us, the media and even South Park are suggesting it was a stunt that went too far and now he's in a serious position to actually win, he's hitting the self destruct button whilst keeping the impression that he's still trying. Another theory is he thought his ridiculous approach would appeal to the Anti-crowd, stirring that pot with words like immigration and so forth. Hoping there'd be enough voters to actually win.
Then there's the tin foil approach with people suggesting Trump is the biggest asset of Clinton's campaign and has been actively trying to get her into the White House from the start.

Re: US Election 2016
Of course we come up with all these ideas because we assume he must know what he is doing. Maybe he is just unhinged.
Another theory could be that whilst he would like to win he may not care too much if he loses. There were comments from 'insiders' during the Primary campaign that he ran as a publicity stunt, that he would run over last Summer only to drop out early this year. However his natural flair for reality television worked too well and his outlandish statements to attack media attention also won him votes. Either way if he doesn't mind losing it then that might explain why he feels unable to take advice and why he didn't prepare for the debate.
I just don't think he has the drive, intelligence or temperament to be President. Presidents are authoritative and calm figures. They don't tweet about sex tapes or mock veterans. In modern times at least they don't make disparaging comments about other genders and races.

Despite his doctors assurance there's still a part of me puts his erratic behaviour down to Alzheimer's or some other degenerative condition. Neither candidate is ideal age wise if nothing else and both represent the past rather then the future.

It's more likely to be sociopathy than anything degenerative.

More from Trump: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/08/us...ump-women.html
Quote:
Donald J. Trump was caught on tape bragging in vulgar terms about making sexual advances toward a married woman, aggressively kissing and groping other women, and boasting that “when you’re a star they let you do it.”

To be honest this doesn't come as a surprise although it's actually gaining traction as a story. It's pretty much how he has talked about women in this campaign and partly why his supporters love him. I guess the element of pushing himself on them is bad but, again, it's not exactly going to shock anyone.

Re: US Election 2016
I assumed a lot of rich people did this. Obviously not labelling all of them but yeah Trump strikes me as the guy that gets it all his own way and they never make a peep because Money. He should've taken Cosby on as his running mate.

The man is a total aberration and god help us if he gets elected president in November.

Still not sure why this time he has gone too far as compared to all the other times. His defenders can't pretend his attitude towards women is new here.

Re: US Election 2016
Yeah and he's apologised, that the first time? This is pretty much the point he guaranteed a loss.

Avik Roy in Forbes, cites a number of the faux pas that have dogged Mr Trump over the past few weeks.
He says: "None of this was enough to prevent nearly all leading GOP [Republican] lawmakers from endorsing Trump as their nominee. But the latest tape just might. Why?
"Because few Republican lawmakers have Muslim relatives. Few Republican lawmakers are of Mexican heritage. Few Republican lawmakers have faced discrimination based on the colour of their skin. But all of them have white female relatives. And therefore, when Trump talks about grabbing white women by the genitals, they can directly relate."

Re: US Election 2016
I think a lot of Americans are so fed up with their usual presidential fare that they'll accept virtually anything Trump does. Let's not forget there are plenty of ugly skeletons in the past of many a past president, including JFK whose undoubted charisma has blinded a great many people to the various things he got up to. Clinton's period in office was hardly whiter than white but because he talks the right sort of talk a lot of people are seemingly willing to overlook his transgressions...
It wasn't that many years before Trump was being rude about women during a private conversation, that the then President Clinton was engaged in appalling behaviour in the Oval Office. Rightly or wrongly, many will say he was actually doing what Trump was only bragging about...
