Router on the blink
We think our router is on the blink, because with it plugged in, the phone doesn't ring correctly, but strangely enough the Internet works fine. However when i unplug the router from the phone socket, the phone rings fine. My dad wants to replace it at some stage, and ive had a look at the Linksys site and saw this :
http://www-uk.linksys.com/servlet/Sa...VisitorWrapper
Now we have an ADSL broadband account with Demon, and wondered whether this router was ADSL Compatible.
Ahhh edit, we dont have a modem, so i need one with a modem built in.

Re: Router on the blink
Yep That's just a router, you need a modem too, as you say.
Also, you don't mention adsl filters in your post, you will need a filter too. Maybe more than one, depending on your set up.

We have filters on every device i can possibly think of already. Plus it has to have WPA security with it, as thats more secure.

Re: Router on the blink
Personally, I'd go for a netgear, mine has never let me down, but it's bot wireless. But netgear do have some good wireless routers, with built in modem.
Either of these 2 will do the job.
Netgear DG834N
Netgear DG834PN

Re: Router on the blink
Probably best to read the reviews, they both look decent enough.

Re: Router on the blink
Mad...as far as I read it it more looks like your filter is giving up the ghost. try and replace that and I think that your phone line will be working fine as well again.

Re: Router on the blink
I'd be suspicious of a filter first, before the router. Unplug them all and then try one at a time as a process of elimination.

Post 9 and 10 - Exactly what I was about to say!
Another vote for the micro-filters! Router sounds ok to me...

Re: Router on the blink
Sorry to bump the thread, but the problem was with a phone socket that had got damp, (not because of water phically thrown over it). However my dad replaced it a few months ago, and its been fine since.
