Re: What are you eating now thread?
Bought a turkey yesterday, let it defrost overnight, jointed it and roasted the legs and wings earlier simply with plenty of salt and black pepper. Just been eating some and it is superb. Moist meat, crispy seasoned skin - what more could anyone want?...

Re: What are you eating now thread?
Pork loin steaks done with a spicy rub. Flash fried and then oven roasted with a BBQ sauce. Oven chips, battered onion rings and peas.

Re: What are you eating now thread?
Oven roasted pork chipoloatas with mayo and ketchup. Comfort food at it's best IMO.

Re: What are you eating now thread?
Chicken madras curry: Made with some chicken thighs reduced from Lidl, and a Pataks Madras sauce. Added spices, red chilli, raisins, garlic and onion.

I don't usually use sauces for curry (prefer Patak's pastes) but can recommend the Lidl curry sauces if you haven't tried them. They're all very good and can easily by 'enhanced' with a little extra spicing if so desired. On balance I reckon the pastes, if used properly, give a superior result to any sauce.

Re: What are you eating now thread?
I usually make the whole thing from scratch but happened to have a couple of these jars that had been on promotion at £1 a pop. That and the ~500g of cooked chicken thighs for £1.33 made four portions.

Yes if you have the spices to hand that's the way to tailor it to suit your own tastebuds perfectly.
Doesn't it just give the lie to all the nonsense we hear trotted out about how expensive it is to eat well? Last week I made a huge curry using 2kg of frozen chicken breast and other ingredients which cost just over £10. It provided us with about 8 main meals in the end at a cost of about £1.25 each. So much cheaper and healthier than take away.
