Celtic lost in 70 or 71.. and Liverpool in 85.. think those are the only ones we lost in the European Cup

I think SDAL is right, the reason I remember them for the wrong reasons, one was Heysel and was the other one the time In Paris when the Leeds thugs destroyed part of the stadium?

Re: The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season
Apparently the Welsh champions TNS were willing to allow Liverpool to take their place in the first qualifying round of the Champions league next season if they beat them in a one off Play-off match. Uefa said this was totally fair and leagal but the Welsh FA rejected it saying if TNS decided to do this then they would let a different Welsh team qualify instead.

Re: The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season
This means Ferguson must believe he will be able to buy a new keeper, as all he has now is Howard?
A bit of a strange thing to do IMO with all the money talk with Glazer taking over if he wants to buy a new keeper.

I think it could be Paul Robinson from Spurs, but Spurs want £8M, it's Glazer's money now so who cares

Re: The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season
apparently, from BBC news (Scotland):
Strachan/Celtic in for Anti Niemi (spelling) would be a good signing, but he has already played for the dark side.
