Chelsea v Porto will be interesting and Larsson's Barca against Celtic should be good as well

Chelsea will get Porto, of course, and Celtic and Werder Bremen. They'll beat them all 1-0 and most of the crowd will be asleep after five minutes
Liverpool no one will give a toss about as they won't get out of the group stage anyway. Let's say Real Madrid, Sparta Prague and Rosenborg. Owen hat-trick at Anfield.

That wasn't a bad guess.
How do you think Arsenal will do ?

Re: [Merged] - Football talk
Pah!
You may have a short memory but before we used to be accussed by being really good at home and bad away in europe and its flipped around now.
We, for once, didnt get the hardest group but united got a nice one again. Also I dont want to guess how arsenal will do as its football and a cup so it is hard to guess

Re: [Merged] - Football talk
I thought Chelsea and Porto would come out - funny how these coincidences happen. Should have backed it with folding money.
Back on Planet Factoid, Arsenal's home record in Europe's been quite good lately - not brilliant, but not the worst ever.
93/94 -
P 4 W 3 D 1
94/95 -
P 4 W 2 D 1
95/96
P 0
96/97
P 1 L 1
97/98
P 1 D 1
98/99 (Wembley)
P 3 W 1 D 1 L 1
99/00
P 3 W 1 L 2 (Wembley)
P 4 W 4 (Highbury)
00/01
P 7 W 5 D 2
01/02
P 6 W 5 L 1
02/03
P 6 W 1 D 4 L 1
03/04
P 5 W 3 L 2
Total
P 44 W 25 D 10 L 9
Pretty respectable I'd say, considering there are three final appearances in there (ok, only one trophy, but still). The CL campaigns of 00/01 and 01/02 are records to be proud of.

Re: [Merged] - Football talk
so what? doesnt take any talent away from the players they are still as good as they are. Winning in europe doesnt increase or discrease your skill
Arsenal play great football and thats what the game is about, not spending 20/30 million on players whenever you are not doing well

Re: [Merged] - Football talk
We've got to five finals:
69/70 Fairs Cup - Won
79/80 Cup Winner's Cup - Lost on penalties
93/94 Cup Winner's Cup - Won
94/95 Cup Winner's Cup - Lost in the last bloody minute to that bloody Nayim
99/00 UEFA Cup - Lost on penalties
Annoyingly, we've kept three clean sheets in that lot.
I believe Man Utd have 4 wins out of 4 final appearances, but I could be wrong. Rather dwarfed by Liverpool's 7 wins in 9 appearances.

we won the European Cup in 68 and 99 and the Cup Winners Cup in 91.
For a top club in Europe that's not that great to be honest. I don't think we made any more finals other than that.

Re: [Merged] - Football talk
3 out of 3 then - I think I double-counted 68.
Spurs have also won three European trophies, incidentally.
Anyone care to list all the British clubs that have made it to European finals? I'll start you off with:
Arsenal
Manchester United
Liverpool
Spurs
There are *lots* more, some very surprising.
