More catch up channels launching soon

"Sky also announced that customers with On Demand will receive up to 20 new channels on Catch Up TV over the next year. The first channels to be added to the service will include Discovery, Dave, Gold and Cartoon Network, all arriving before the end of the year."

i dont understand it myself better boxes seem a better idea to me capable of recording more channels at once or better on demand as we drift to HD the band width is going to be problematic for lots of +1 channels and it doesn't exactly add much choice just a slight time sift advantage that would be better catered for by better boxes or on demand

We are heading towards a point where there are so many on demand and catchup channels that there is no real need for multiple tuners. Choosing a programme from on demand is no more hassle or slower than selecting it from your STB recording. It wouldn't surprise me if in the future when you choose to record and there are conflicts the STB just downloads one of the programmes automatically, so the user would really have no idea if it was recorded live or not.
