Re: World Cup road to 2014
Quite alarming when you think as Brazil as one of the standout countries to host it in. Hasn't this happened to numerous players and former players now. They've been mugged, seriously injured or killed. I'm unsure but I think Pele is on that list. I was with the Spain and Brazil squads during the Olympics and I considered our security to be lacking (G4s played a part in that though) unless teams are taking their own private security escorts then I'd be worried given the current state over there.

Re: World Cup road to 2014
Brazil's public are pee'd. They want change from the slums, murder, vicious circle of life currently in place over there and when they see soo much money being thrown at the World Cup they have understandably raised their concerns which is nuts in itself and shows how dire the situation is over there. Brazil, the football loving country protesting over the World Cup cost in their own country. People over in Brazil reckon change will be underway after the World Cup so yup tightened security will have to be in place. It could get messy if the cartels feel threatened by change which is inevitable. Brazil have recently sold part of the oil reserves they have.

Re: World Cup road to 2014
Can't blame the public. People are still living in poverty and slums but the country is spending billions on a football tournament.
I don't think FIFA should allow countries that have vast areas that are poverty stricken to host a world cup until said areas and general standards are met.

Re: World Cup road to 2014
FIFA would argue the tournament will bring prosperity. Like the Olympics had for Spain all those years ago I get the argument though, Brazil does have money to up living standards.

Former PCC drug trafficker Daniel Martins in the piece above made sense. the gangs wont attack the WC, they will obviously look to sell drugs but the attack will be on the forces that go for them.

Ian Wright has a point on Milner-Barkley. We all know Milners a tactical utility player. We havent though seen Barkley feature on this stage.

Re: World Cup road to 2014
Barkley would suit this game, going forward. Hes got to have some tactical discipline, tracking back in him having played for Moyes as well.
