Re: Hub 3.0 port forwarding
You can't forward ports with the firewall switched off.

On the hub 2 as well? Are you sure? I didn't think that was the case.
Again, it doesn't matter. Set to low, medium, high or off, the ports show as closed.

Re: Hub 3.0 port forwarding
If you think about it, logically, though how can you open a port in (through) a firewall if it's turned off.
That's what port forwarding does, it tells your firewall to let the traffic through on thet specicic port.

Re: Hub 3.0 port forwarding
However, the redirection is handled by NAT, which isn't necessarily tied to the firewall. A firewall opens and closes ports (Among other things), NAT tells the traffic going to that port where to head next.
For some systems, these are one and the same, but not always.

So does the HH3 allow port forwarding with the firewall turned off?
As his thread is about the HH3 then what any other hub will/will not do is immaterial.

I don't know, I haven't tried. Whether it does or not could be down to a bug, I was merely pointing out that your "logical thinking" doesn't necessarily apply.

FWIW - I agree as I'm currently testing both SH3 (w/o FW and with PF) and SH2 (same) quite successfully. Doesn't prove diddly squat with just two samples of course.....

Re: Hub 3.0 port forwarding
I think the main takeaway is that these days "Firewall" is very much a balloon term.

Re: Hub 3.0 port forwarding
There is a firmware issue that screwed up the port forwarding unless you,
You have to delete the rules and then enter the port forward in ascending order.
eg. Ports 22,80,443,8080 in that order.
Hope it helps anyone else who is suffering the issue and hopefully the VM team can fix it properly.
soo ascending order, and youll find it works, if you try to go descending it will just continuously say no.
