DABIRSIM will have a new jockey when he makes his return to action in the Prix Fontainebleau on April 15 after it was confirmed that Christophe Soumillon has signed to ride owner SimonSpringer's horses.

Frankie Dettori was on board the son of Hat Trick for both his Group 1 successes last season, but Springer has moved to secure the services of Soumillon, whose first retainer is with the Wildenstein family.

"We have a firm agreement with Soumillon that he is to ride all our horses this season, as long as his other commitments allow," said racing manager Olaf Profft from Munich.

CHAMPION jockey Tony McCoy has hinted that connections are leaning towards running Gold Cup winner Synchronised in the John Smith's Grand National at Aintree next Saturday.

The nine-year-old had been uneasy for the race on Betfair earlier in the week but he headed their market for the famous race for the first time on Friday morning

LAST year's Oaks winner Dancing Rain has had the start of her four-year-old campaign delayed after picking up an injury which could keep her sidelined until the autumn.

The daughter of Danehill Dancer gave William Haggas his second Classic triumph when overcoming Wonder Of Wonders last June and went onto land the German equivalent before putting her elders in their place in the Group 2 Qipco British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes at Ascot in October.

JOCKEY Ruby Walsh's decision to partner On His Own for Willie Mullins in the John Smith's Grand National next Saturday, rather than Neptune Collonges or Seabass, resulted in swingeing price cuts - none more so than with Ladbrokes.

The Magic Sign halved On His Own to 10-1, while he was cut by every other firm as well to a general 12-1, although Coral already fancied the chances of Graham Wylie's horse as they were an industry-low 10-1 prior to Walsh's Saturday announcement.

Powers Gold Cup Chase (Grade 1) 2m 4f, 5yo+

FLEMENSTAR posted a fifth successive win over fences as the novice slammed his more experienced rivals with a sensational effort in the Fairyhouse feature.

The Peter Casey-trained seven-year-old was sent off the 11-10 favourite on his first start in open company but his supporters had no worries whatsoeveras he cruised home 11 lengths clear of his nearest rival Rathlin.

Such was the manner of his win, a fifth in six starts over fences, that he is now as short as 8-1 second-favourite with Ladbrokes for next year's Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup.

A very impressive performance.

Ladbrokes Irish Grand National Chase 3m5f, 5yo+

LION NA BEARNAI gave trainer Thomas Gibney and jockey Andrew Thornton the biggest success of their careers when he sprung a big shock in the Irish National on Monday.

The 33-1 winner landed the Grade 2 Ten Up Novices' Chase at 50-1 last time out when he beat Four Commanders but proved that victory to be no fluke when he powered clear of Out Now after the last to score by four and a half lengths.

Keelings Irish Strawberry Hurdle (Grade 2) 2m4f 5yo+

AFTER a string of heroic seconds, Get Me Out Of Here finally bagged the win he so deserved as he landed this Grade 2 contest in decisive fashion under Tony McCoy.

JP McManus's eight-year-old saw off long-time leader Tofino Bay and the mare Oilily to land the spoils. The 11-8 favourite and Champion Hurdle sixth Oscars Well was only fourth.

BACKERS of Akeed Mofeed, who was a mover for the Qipco 2,000 Guineas last week, were dealt a blow on Monday when trainer John Oxx revealed he will miss the race.

The colt was as short as 9-1 with Coral for the opening Classic of the season and was Tom Segal's Pricewise selection but having been found slightly lame he will not be heading to Newmarket.

Speaking on Monday morning, Oxx said: "Akeed Mofeed took a lame step yesterday and is going to have to have an easy week.

JOCKEY Kirsty Milczarek has had her two-year ban for passing on information for rewards and committing fraudulent or corrupt practice quashed by the appeal board.

Milczarek, 31, was one of four jockeys warned off by the BHA in December along with owners Maurice Sines, James Crickmore and their associates Peter and Nick Gold.

Milczarek's solicitor Christopher Stewart-Moore said: "Kirsty is delighted and is looking forward to resuming her career on an upward trajectory."

JEREMY NOSEDA could be represented in the Qipco 1,000 Guineas trials at both Newmarket and Newbury next week as the Flat season gathers pace.

Both Regal Realm, who won the Group 3 Prestige Stakes, and Reckoning, an impressive winner on her sole juvenile start at Doncaster last October, could head for the Nell Gwyn at Newmarket, or the Fred Darling (Dubai Duty Free Stakes) at Newbury.

FRANKEL, the all-conquering star of last year's Flat season and the world's highest-rated racehorse, has suffered a minor injury to his off-fore.

Trained by Sir Henry Cecil for Khalid Abdullah, Frankel suffered the injury during a workout on Wednesday morning and will be monitored in the coming days.

"It was probably during work on Racecourse side yesterday morning," Abdullah's racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe said on Thursday.

"I think with a horse like this everything is a concern but at the moment it looks superficial and he'll be monitored and continually checked and we'll see how he goes over the next couple of days."

Lets hope this giant of the turf is alright.

BGC Partners Liverpool Hurdle (Grade 1) 3m½f, 4yo+

BIG BUCK'S galloped into history at Aintree on Thursday as he landed his 17th successive win over hurdles, surpassing Sir Ken's record, when taking a fourth Liverpool Hurdle.

As it was last year, the Paul Nicholls-trained Big Buck's never had a fright in landing the spoils - travelling comfortably and pulling away after taking the lead at the third-last flight.

A horse of a lifetime and lets enjoy him while we can.

Betfred Manifesto Novices' Chase (Grade 1) 2m4f, 5yo+

MENORAH finally came good over fences as he cleared away to win his first Grade 1 since landing the Supreme Novices' Hurdle two years ago under a confident Richard Johnson.

The seven-year-old was well beaten by Sprinter Sacre in the Racing Post Arkle Chase at Cheltenham last month but he showed his true colours as he put in a good round of jumping on his way to recording an impressive victory.

Betfred Bowl Chase (Grade 1) 3m1f, 5yo+

FOLLOW THE PLAN upstaged some better-fancied rivals when he sprang a huge shock for trainer Oliver McKiernan and jockey Tom Doyle at Aintree on Thursday.

The nine-year-old, winner of the Grade 1 Punchestown Guinness Gold Cup last May, travelled beautifully throughout the race and eased into the lead two fences from home before he kept on well after the last to deny Burton Port and Hunt Ball.

Wow where did he come from.

EXPERIENCE, stamina and a touch of class counted for plenty as 12-year-old Cloudy Lane, Grand National favourite back in 2008, landed a gamble having been backed from 7-1 into 4-1 favourite to continue the McCains amazing record over the National fences.

Richard Harding's mount outstayed long-time leader Roulez Cool and Sam Waley-Cohen with Herons Well keeping on to take third spot with Keenan's Future fourth. There were 13 finishers.

PERTEMPS FINAL winner Cape Tribulation completed a big-festival double for trainer Malcolm Jefferson and Denis O'Regan with success in the Silver Cross Handicap Hurdle.

Travelling well throughout, the eight-year-old came from off the pace to challenge long-time leader American Spin two from home and stayed on stoutly to win by three-quarters of a length.

ALWAYS WAINING notched a remarkable Topham hat-trick under Tom O'Brien. The 11-1 shot is the first horse to win the handicap for a third time in the race's 63-year history.

John Smith's Melling Chase (Grade 1) 2m4f, 5yo+

FINIAN'S RAINBOW, who smashed through the rails on his way to the start, made light work of his seven rivals, and the step up in trip, running out a ready winner of the Melling Chase.

Jumped off in third, Barry Geraghty was the only rider to take close order with pacesetters Albertas Run and Poquelin, with the rest of the field sitting several lengths off the three market leaders.


Exiting the back straight, Wishfull Thinking, who has been largely disappointing this season, rediscovered himself and travelled up strongly onto the quarters of Finian's Rainbow, who was left in front as the two pacesetters faded.

The two pulled clear into the straight, and Wishfull Thinking only looked a momentary threat until Geraghty gave his mount a squeeze and powered clear on the bridle.

John Smith's Mildmay Novices' Chase (Grade 2) 3m1f, 5yo+

SILVINIACO CONTI cruised to a comfortable victory for trainer Paul Nicholls and jockey Ruby Walsh, jumping well in the straight to leave Champion Court trailing in his wake.

The 7-4 favourite scored by 13 lengths from chief rival Champion Court (15-8), who was upsides jumping the third-last but had no answer once Walsh turned on the gas.

Silviniaco Conti is 12-1 for the Cheltenham Gold Cup and 10-1 (from 16) for the King George VI Chase with William Hill. Paddy Power quote 8-1 for the King George.

NICKY HENDERSON got his Aintree meeting up and running here with a 1-2 led by 7-4 favourite Darlan, who struck under Tony McCoy in the Synchronised colours of JP McManus.

Stablemate Captain Conan (Barry Geraghty) chased him home in second, while the yard's third runner, Oscara Dara, finished fourth. Paul Nicholls' Prospect Wells filled the places in third spot.

I could save a lot of time by just going to the stables beforehand with a shotgun.

Sadly, l find the Grand National to be cruel to the horses, if they are going to run this race there has to be stringent tests before the race, and the fences have to be lower.I strong feelings to treatment of the horses, and l know that horses love racing, but the National has always had its problems.
