Ducting then activation ?

They are ducting out my street between 11th October and 22nd November 2017 according to roadworks.org.

After this takes place what else is usually involved and roughly how long does it take to then be in a position to order the service?

Thanks in advance

Re: Ducting then activation ?

Once ducting and network tests are ran by virgin u should be able to place an order for services.

Re: Ducting then activation ?

How long's a piece of string?

Ducting and network tests? When will the network be put into the ducting? When will the cab/node be supplied to the network?

Just because ducting is going in doesn't mean the connection is immanent.

Re: Ducting then activation ?

Depends on how long you are prepared to wait and whatever else is available now to you.

the problem is that because VM have given you a date you expect them to stick to it. Even if they do it in November you would think it would make sense for them to plan the tests in and whatever else for December and then you can look forward to ordering your services in the New Year. The sad fact of the matter is that it will come round to December and it won't have been done and you'll check again in the New Year giving them the benefit of doubt for the cold weather/Christmas/anything else only to find it has been rescheduled for April-July and you'll be scratching your head and asking yourself how it has been delayed by 6 months.

This happens all the time. VM love to release schedules for everything which they never stick to and everything gets put back by 6 months to 1 year and there is always an excuse.

There's some roadworks planned in town by VM that are for Sundays. 5 times now, when that day eventually comes around, the roadworks disappear from the map, and are re-planned for another Sunday, in a few more weeks' time.

Just as a bit of a hint, I'm currently going through a similar thing with a new build estate. Virgin is not available yet despite the cab being there because the power company needed to wire it up first - so ducting might not be the only piece of the puzzle.

As others have said, it'll be available when it's available.

There are many pieces to the puzzle and all it takes (as in your case) is for one of the pieces not to fall into place at the right time and things can be delayed for weeks/months.

Unfortunately it is the nature of the beast.

Re: Ducting then activation ?

I wouldn't take that as gospel, we have builds in the North East that has had duct in the ground for 6 months but we still have issues with fibre trunk routes and backhaul capacity. The guys on the ground will be as clued up as you about when it will go live
