I went to football last saturday for the first time in ages and despite us winning, playing well and not being that long ball at all I don't think I'll be going back in a long time, £41 for Championship football but that's not the worst of it, some one behind me was told to stop shouting and another plank piped up with "oh did we change halves" 10 mins after half time.

Footballs lost its way so badly from what it used to be, I am sure there are loads of people that think its absolutely fab to sit there quietly with their family but I think it's crap and one of the worst things was as we got of the train a load of Foxes fans were at the station who started signing, I thought great they're gonna get a good vocal thrashing, not a titter, no one said a bloody word, I thought it odd and with hindsight should have got straight back on the tube and gone home.
Come to Newcastle at home and away and enjoy the atmosphere of some of the most passionate fans in the world. The same fans that went to Old Trafford and saw their team go 6-0 down only to continue singing their hearts out.

I do agree though and I'll use Liverpool for an example. 6 years ago Anfield was rocking and from my memories the best of this was a Champions league game against Juventus in which the chorus of ''You'll never walk alone'' nearly brought the stadium down. Same with Istanbul 2005. Unfortunately that great atmosphere at Liverpool and other clubs has just vanished over the years. Whether its down to the downfall of Liverpool and co who knows.

As for Tevez... Is he having a laugh? After all that farce of wanting to leave because of his family. Way to drop down another level Tevez you slimey git.

Ugh. The two guys behind me at the game were morons. They kept shouting at everything in game, always complaining, asking why players didn't do this and that (mostly they wanted perfect passes from across the field whilst under pressure), made xenophobic remarks about the French, racist remarks about other players, long periods of complaining whenever the slighest thing went wrong.

don't know whether to laugh or cry at that. did you say anything Damien? what was the overall atmosphere like? i watched it on skysports so didn't really feel the vibe, Lee Dixon quoted on the BBCs site saying it wasn't all that. the game itself was a pretty pathetic considering we had a handful of chances and ability to step it up a bit.

l am afraid thats one of the reasons why l like to watch sport on tv because when l went to sportings event there was always idiots either in front of me or behind me and to be perfectly honest they would get totally on my nerves and basically spoil it for me and my friend or partner and in the end we did not enjoy going anymore.

The atmosphere reflect the game, just quite drab.

Tottenham have confirmed manager Harry Redknapp is to have minor heart surgery on Wednesday.

The 64-year-old was admitted to hospital on Tuesday night for tests and will have an operation on a minor blockage in one of his arteries.

Redknapp is unable to travel with the Tottenham squad to Russia for their Europa League fixture against Rubin Kazan on Thursday.

Spurs are in top spot in Group A, two points ahead of Greek side PAOK.

Assistant manager Kevin Bond and first-team coach Joe Jordan will assume first-team duties in Redknapp's absence.

It is not known how long Redknapp will be away from work, though an update is expected later on Wednesday at the club's news conference in Russia.

Redknapp told the Sun on Wednesday he was confident the problem would not stop him taking charge of Sunday's Premier League match at Fulham.

He said: "I'm hoping I can be back at work again in a couple of days.

Get well soon Harry.

We used to be like that, I remember drowning out Forrest fans for over an hour when we were 4-0 down in an FA cup semi at Villa park in the early '90's.

On a side note Billy Sharp played and scored last night 3 days after his 2 day old son died, people like Tevez should hang their heads in shame. He lifted his shirt to revel a t shirt saying 'that's for your son'.

Re: Football Season 2011/12

Games in Europe involving English sides seem to be very poor this year.

Yes l am not sure whether we are going to see a English side in the final this year as they seem to be either rebuilding or lack strength in depth.

I don't know. Dortmund vs Arsenal, Arsenal vs Olympiakos and Munich vs City were all good games.

Best game thus far this season, that I have seen, is Chelsea vs Arsenal. Last season Barcelona vs Real Madrid (the 5 - 1).

Agreed Damien, Chelsea and Arsenal was fantastic, Yes those games were good but I mean generally there is no atmosphere at the European games and most of the games are played like training games.
