Re: Horse Racing

France Galop awaits Dettori contact.

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Wed

Quote:
French racing authority France Galop has said it is awaiting further contact from Frankie Dettori concerning a "medical" matter if the rider's application for a renewed licence is to be approved.

France Galop banned the Italian for six months after he tested positive for cocaine at Longchamp last September.

Dettori was due to return to action at Leicester on Monday, but his comeback was vetoed by the British Horseracing Authority after the French regulators said on Friday he must firstly attend a meeting with its medical committee.

Telescope drifts after gallop

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Wed

Quote:
Telescope was eased in the betting for the Investec Derby at Epsom on June 1 after a "workmanlike" gallop before racing at Lingfield on Wednesday.

The Sir Michael Stoute-trained colt worked over seven furlongs with two stablemates to help compensate for missing his intended prep run in the Dante Stake at York last week. He is making up for lost time after grazes he sustained on his legs became infected.

The Highclere Thoroughbred Racing-owned three-year-old will now face a make-or-break gallop at Newmarket on Saturday to determine whether he runs in the Derby.

Ahern found guilty at hearing

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Wed

Quote:
Eddie Ahern has been found guilty of three breaches of British Horseracing Authority rules following a disciplinary inquiry into alleged corruption.

The Group One-winning jockey was charged with conspiring to commit a corrupt or fraudulent practice in relation to the laying of five horses between September 2010 and February 2011.

He was also accused of intentionally failing to ensure Judgethemoment was ridden on its merits at Lingfield in January 2011, and of passing information for reward. Ahern has been found guilty of all charges.

Re: Horse Racing

Dettori licence remains at impasse.

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Thu

Quote:
Frankie Dettori's legal representative hopes the licensing committee of the British Horseracing Authority will reconvene in a bid to hasten the rider's return to action.

Solicitor Christopher Stewart-Moore has contacted the BHA with a view to the regulator revising its stance which has impacted upon the Italian jockey's protracted exile from the sport.

French racing authority France Galop banned Dettori for six months after he tested positive for cocaine at Longchamp last September and the BHA said it is awaiting results of three additional tests taken from Dettori by France Galop's medical committee before the jockey can even be reconsidered for a licence.

Stoute rules Telescope out of Derby.

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Thu

Quote:
Telescope has a sore left shin and "won't be running" in the Investec Derby at Epsom on June 1, said trainer Sir Michael Stoute.

The Galileo colt had a racecourse gallop at Lingfield on Wednesday, in which he was described as only "workmanlike" by the Newmarket handler.

He has since developed a sore shin, with Stoute of the opinion the premier Classic will now come too soon.

O'Brien quartet head for Guineas.

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...uineas&day=Thu

Quote:
Aidan O'Brien has declared a team of four as he goes for a ninth triumph in the Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh on Saturday.

A field of 10 is set to line up for the colts' Classic, with the Ballydoyle trainer responsible for Magician, Flying The Flag, George Vancouver and Gale Force Ten.

Johnny Murtagh was aboard three of the eight O'Brien winners and he aims to get his training career off to a flying start when he saddles Ask Dad and Fort Knox in the one-mile showpiece.

This race has so far eluded trainer Jim Bolger and the Coolcullen handler tries this time with Trading Leather, having removed his four other possibles.

Bolger bullish about Dawn bid.

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...=&sub=&day=Thu

Quote:
Jim Bolger is convinced Dawn Approach will go to the Investec Derby an even better horse than he was when winning the Qipco 2000 Guineas.

The Coolcullen trainer has been delighted with his stable star since Newmarket and he knows what it takes to win the Epsom Classic, having saddled the unbeaten colt's sire New Approach to strike in 2008.

"I'm very happy with him. He has come out of the Guineas very well. His performance in the Guineas was spectacular, I think that's recognised by everybody," said Bolger.

"He has been thriving ever since. I'd say he's eating a little more than he was before the Guineas, so he's come out of it really well, and I've no doubt he has improved.

Re: Horse Racing

Dettori hoping for Derby return

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...=&sub=&day=Thu

Quote:
Frankie Dettori still hopes to be able to ride at next week's Investec Derby meeting after making some progress towards having his licence reinstated.

The 42-year-old jockey had planned to be back in action this week following his six-month ban handed out by France Galop after he tested positive for cocaine at Longchamp last September.

However, a "private matter" between Dettori and the Medical Committee of France Galop has so far prevented the French regulator from clearing him to return, with the British Horseracing Authority reciprocating that stance.

Camelot and Kazeem in Cup clash.

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...=&sub=&day=Fri

Quote:
Camelot and Al Kazeem are the headline acts among a field of just four declared for Sunday's Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained Camelot made a successful start to his four-year-old campaign when landing the Mooresbridge Stakes at the track earlier in the month and steps back up to Group One company as he bids for a fifth win at that level.

O'Brien hoping for Guineas magic.

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...+magic&day=Fri

Quote:
Aidan O'Brien feels Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas favourite Magician will have no problem dropping back down to a mile for the Classic at the Curragh.

He won just one of his four outings as a juvenile but looked a different proposition when storming to victory in the Dee Stakes at Chester. While that form is hardly top-class, it made a favourable impression on many and he was even under consideration for the Investec Derby and the French equivalent.

However, O'Brien feels his pedigree suggests a mile may be his best trip.

Sole aiming to overpower rivals.

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Fri

Quote:
Eddie Lynam is hoping Sole Power can continue his fine recent run in Saturday's Betfred Temple Stakes at Haydock despite going to the well for the fourth time in 11 weeks.

The six-year-old had two outings at Meydan in March before lifting the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket earlier this month and now makes his third successive appearance in the Group Two at the Merseyside track, having taken the prize in 2011 and finished a close second 12 months ago.

"He's travelled over well. He was second last year, just beaten by a very good horse of Roger Charlton's, Bated Breath, and won it the previous year," said County Meath-based Lynam.

Hannon duo primed for Guineas.

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Sat

Quote:
Richard Hannon has a strong hand in Saturday's Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas.

The trainer ruled Olympic Glory out of the race earlier in the week but still has Havana Gold, a close up fifth in the French Guineas, and Van Der Neer, third to Dawn Approach at Newmarket.

Van Der Neer is owned by Saeed Manana and his racing manager, Bruce Raymond, said: "He's going there as second favourite and he's got a very good winning chance."

He added: "I know he's won on soft at Leicester but Richard Hughes felt that was the reason he got beaten in the Racing Post Trophy and he showed at Newmarket that fast ground is fine for him so that won't be an issue here."

Hills: Curragh just ideal for Judge

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...=&sub=&day=Sat

Quote:
Trainer Charlie Hills believes Just The Judge will be suited by the track at the Curragh as the filly has her second chance at Classic glory in the Etihad Airways Irish 1,000 Guineas on Sunday.

The Qatar Racing-owned three-year-old went within just half a length of giving the Lambourn handler his first Classic success in the Qipco 1000 Guineas at Newmarket, and he will now bid to go one better in a race his father Barry won twice with Nicer in 1993 and Hula Angel in 1999.

"We thought the track at the Curragh would really suit her - a stiff galloping mile. That is what attracted us to this race," Hills told At The Races.

Here are my best tips for today.

Quote:
GOODWOOD

2.05 Afsare
2.35 Langavat
3.05 Beyond Conceit
3.35 Breton Rock

HAYDOCK

YORK

2.55 Kingsgate Choice
3.30 Tiger Twenty Two
