NTL and D-Link 624+ router

I wonder if someone can help, I have purchased a D-Link DSL624+ router, to set my parents up with a 2 pc wireless setup. I fitted the router between the NTL250 cable modem, but could not connect. I can access the router via the web based setup, followed all the instructions, but still am not able to get a connection. If i put the modem back directly in the PC it works OK. Can anyone shed any light on what I am doing wrong, as it should be quite easy (it was when I did my setup with an ADSL unit on a phone line) im sure.

Have you powered off the modem, unplugged your existing computer connection and connected the router, then powered on again?

Re: NTL and D-Link 624+ router

The model number of your router suggests it may be a DSL router, slings. That means it has a DSL modem built in: it's for use on an ADSL line and probably can't be used on a cable connection. Check the manual and see what it says; if it _is_ a DSL router, you need to take it back and change it for one you can use on a cable connection.

Re: NTL and D-Link 624+ router

Sorry the router is a DI 624+, it does not have an inbuilt modem. I powered everything down, set it up and repowered everything. I think it has to be the setup in the web based programme I am doing wrong, but I am no expert, even though i followed the Dlink manual

I found this

while searching, it doesn't sound good, I'm afraid.

- I did ask for permission to link to another forum.
