FreeSportsUK
New to the forum, driven here by increasing frustration at poor channel choice by Virgin Media. Being an avid motorsport and ice hockey fan the content of new free to air channel FreeSportsUK is very attractive to me, it's available on all major platforms except for..guess who ?
Already angry at being continually fobbed off about lack of Premier Sports in HD and now this.

Re: FreeSportsUK
The service isn't working on Freesat channel 252 either at the moment so its just Freeview HD & Sky unless you do a manual tune.
Either there is a technical problem stopping the launch on VM or they are "testing the water" to see how much interest there is in the channel before they add it.
Perhaps they are remembering all the fury that happened when BT Sports was imposed on all the TV XL customers a few years ago. No doubt there will be some out there who would say "not another sports channel I've got to pay for" if they do add it.

It's FTA so you won't have to pay for it.

Knowing VM though if they get it they'll bung it in the XL pack.

What does FTA mean? Free To Air, not necessarily Free To Cable.

Re: FreeSportsUK
Its been all over the net that VM are putting prices up in November. Would not shock me if they said prices are going up but look here us a new channel trying to make out its compensation.

FreeSports tweeted approx 25 mins ago that not on Sky EPG yet but provided tuning info for those who wanted to add manually.

Re: FreeSportsUK
Freesports have been Tweeting Virgin customers should ask their cable provider to add the channel if they are interested in watching it. This suggests there has been no deal done to have Freesports on the Virgin Media platform

If they think that is good compensation then they are in a world of absolute delusion..

The point is, VM have to pay for it. Costs have to be passed on to subscribers. It's a tricky one, because Full House subscribers are having to pay for BT Sport even if they do not watch sport. A further price rise on account of yet another sports channel would not be welcomed by those subscribers.
Perhaps the answer might be for VM to add the TV Player to its range of apps. This would also put paid to those who argue that other Freeview channels should be added to the VM platform.

There are plans to launch on VM but it will not be available at launch.

Just taken a look at this channel on Freeview. Not a particularly good picture on there. They could do with providing an HD version of Freesports.
If you have a biggish screen, this is not a good watch.

You have to be in range of a transmitter carrying Freeview MUX 8:

It went live on the Sky EPG at 2pm
