New £1 coins and shopping trollies
New £1 coins and shopping trollies.
I shopped at my local supermarket which needed a £1coin to use the shopping trolley, I only had the new £1 coin but I found itwould not accept it, I expect the same goes for vending machines! Make sure youkeep a old £1 coin.

Re: New £1 coins and shopping trollies
Trolly's in my local sainsbury's accepted both the new and old pound coins as well as my 'home made' token. It didn't look like they had altered them either. :/

Re: New £1 coins and shopping trollies
Our local supermarkets have all disabled the requirement for a coin.

Incidentally, I saw a charity guy selling old £1 size tokens for £3 each the other day.....

New £1 works in Morrison's trolleys; we're well advanced tech wise up North... A good kicking also works if you haven't got a coin.

You have that the wrong, it's a £20 shop, UNLESS the Mrs goes on her own
If you go with her, you're in charge of the trolly, so no detours

I'm pretty sure our Morrisons ditched the need for coins a few years ago.

Re: New £1 coins and shopping trollies
I got two trolley tokens as change, well 1 Euro coins to be exact. So be wary if you're like me and just shove change away, they're not incredibly similar but come just as shiny, have the ridges and when stacked if you're not paying attention like myself can easily just go away in the pocket without a second look. Ridges are slightly longer and the coin seems thinner overall. Not really the cashiers fault though, just as dozey as I was.

My local Morrisons still have coin locks on as do Lidl.
The local Sainsburys and Asda and Waitrose do not have coin locks but their trollies are often taken away by customers and dumped.
