Wiring diagram
Hi,
Plz excuse me if this is posted somewhere else, i did have a look but couldn't
find anything similar.
I have just bought a router and set it up ok for the pc's that are close enough
to reach with off the shelf cat5 cables, but i want to "hard wire" some extension sockets further away so i can plug laptop in where and when i need to. I have the extension box's and cable, but no wiring diagrams.
I broke apart an old rj45 male connecter to see the connections there but i
am unsure of what colour cable connects to what number pin in the extension box.
If someone could point me in the direction of a wiring diagram it would be really helpfull.
Thanks

Also see http://www.linksys.com/tech_helper/cabling.html
If you're just extending a cable you'll be interested in the straight-through setup.

Re: Wiring diagram
CHances are, if you buy some extension sockets, you may well find a leaflet in with them or the sockets themselves have colour marks to show how to connect them.

The ethernet sockets that i have are indeed labelled- little stickers on either side illustrating which to connect depending on whether you want straight or cross over.
