'Server not found'
Hi guys,
Sorry if this has been asked before but I am suddenly having problems loading web pages. Practically every page I try and load I get the SERVER NOT FOUND message. It's been this way for about two weeks.
I used to use Chrome but I've since tried Firefox, now I'm using Waterfox but the issues are the same.
I've installed the latest driver for my ethernet card but still the problem remains.
I've run a speed test and I have a healthy ping and my upload/download speeds remain constant.
Any ideas? I've tried searching the web (when it works) and even changed the dns thing in my router but no change.
Any ideas?
Thanks and a Merry Christmas to all.
****** I've just tried to upload this post and got the same message again. *****

Re: 'Server not found'
do you do regular clean ups? download and install ccleaner and run it with default settings. This will clean any pap that may be causing issues. Also reset all your settings in internet options

Re: 'Server not found'
CTRL & F5 will clear cache files that may be causing issues.

Re: 'Server not found'
Looks like a DNS issue to me. Can you connect to anything on the internet?
Tell us more about your setup; like modem, router (if in modem mode); where you think your DNS is coming from.

Re: 'Server not found'
I am running Win 7.
I have the same problem however I connect my laptop. Be it hardwired/wireless through router or hardwired direct through modem.
I will try the cleanup but I only recently reformatted my HDD and did a clean re-install.
Don't know diddlysquat about DNS but I assume it's from Virgin(?)
I have changed my antivirus from Microsoft to Avast but I did this to try and solve the issue I already had.

Re: 'Server not found'
That's why I ask how you or the OP are connected. Modem mode? In which case you can set your own DNS into the router (I use Google DNS 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4); Router mode? In which case yoy are forced to VM's DNS.
Also you can override DNS via the TCP/IP settings in your network connection; you can override DND by making an entry in the HOSRS file (I'll leave you to Google all that).
Cached DNS entries on your PC will let some URLS through. The IPCONFIG command on the CMD window willlet you clear the DNS out and let it start afresh (you can Google IPCONFIG as well).
So information is everything in debugging this sort of problem.

Re: 'Server not found'
Ran Namebench, entered the recommended DNS servers in router, works a lot faster now, thank you!
