Re: Linksys WRT54G HELP please please

Disconnect it : reboot the cable modem (turn it on and off)

Plug everything back in together.

How are you connecting to the router ? CAT5 cable or wireless ?

see if you can ping the router

ping 192.168.1.1

Check u have an external ip address by logging onto the router

Re: Linksys WRT54G HELP please please

You shouldnt need to touch anything for the moment : the router should pick up a new ip address from the cable modem and then nat it through to your macines.

dumb questions : is the cable from the router going to the cable modem correctly fitted ?

Try cloaning the mac address!

I had the same problem with a WRT54G v7!!!

Everything worked ok I just could not browse the internet via my wireless connection or my hard wired connection, once I cloaned the mac address everything worked just dandy!

Work that one out!

Re: Linksys WRT54G HELP please please

i must say THANKYOU very very much for all your help i (we) have been trying all night well since 5pm thats 5hrs to get this router to work and it says easy set up on the box i have now placed this router back into its box and it will be on its way back to Amazon asap. The strange thing is that i plugged my old router back in and hey ho im up and running straight away. I think i will have to invest in a wireless access point and plug that into my wired router so i can use the laptop
