Re: Rugby World Cup 2011
So every time we've beaten Ireland we've cheated? Hell, you're sounding as bitter as an England fan now

Re: Rugby World Cup 2011
Well it's good to see stereotyping is alive and well eh?...
Rugby, like many team sports, is full of cheating and 'rule bending' and ALL nations are involved in one way or another so let's not pretend otherwise. One of the worst examples of cheating I ever saw was the cynical NZ spear tackle by Umaga and Mealamu on Brian O'Driscoll whilst he was playing for the Lions in 2005. At the other end of the spectrum there are myriad examples of players cheating and deliberately trying to deceive officials when they know they've broken they rules in one way or another. When it comes to match outcomes, the actual effect of a minor incident may be just as important as a more serious offence and vice versa.

Re: Rugby World Cup 2011
Which just goes to prove how the so called lesser nations can often really raise their game when they're facing the top nations. I dare say the Samoans saw this as their world cup final and put everything ounce of effort into their performance.
All this stuff about playing wide, expansive rugby is fine but, when the chips are down, winning is what matters and the best sides are those who have the ability to nullify their opponents' strengths and preferred tactics.
From what I saw Samoa can be proud of their performance and will be disappointed they didn't snatch a win. South Africa will be relieved to have won but will probably be all the better for such a severe test. Winning a World Cup demands being able to resist pressure and grind out results when things aren't going well. They've certainly proved they can do that.

Re: Rugby World Cup 2011
Samoa have always been a dark horse, strong players who have a lot of heart.. They played their hearts out and the scoreline represented that

Re: Rugby World Cup 2011
Not really a shock, France isn;t a cohesive group anymore and as usual in the world cup the lower teams play their heart out in the last games Well done Tonga
