Ad-hoc Wireless

Hi guys

I have a tablet PC that I use wirelessly at work. I have recently taken to using it at home, and since we don't have a wireless access point at the moment, I have bridged the wireless card in my desktop with the main LAN and use the tablet on the network at home that way.

However, it only connects at 1mbps. The desktop is a 54g card, and although the tablet is only 11b, it should still connect at 11mbps, surely?

I've looked through all the settings on both machines and I can't see anything that's limiting the speed.

Has anyone else experienced this and got any ideas, or is it a limitiation of ad-hoc networks that they only works at 1mbps?

Re: Ad-hoc Wireless

You might be experiencing some sort of interference from another device in the house.

Have you tried changing the channel that the wireless devices are operating on?

Also, what are you doing with the desktop while you are connected to the tablet? If you are using the connection on that machine for any thing else you will be eating into the connection speed.
