WAG354G v2 wi-fi signal problems?

router: WAG354G v2
card: WPC54G
both linksys

Have a contact on my MSN whos having trouble with his wireless signal.

He's tried changing channels with no effect he's still getting bad reception on the wi-fi and has trouble accessing the internet over it.

He's tried contacting linksys support who got him to upgrade the firmware on the router but that hasn't helped.

Thing is up until today the wireless signal has always show as good and its worked fine.

I'm at a bit of a loss what's gone on then is it possible that either something's gone wrong with the wireless on the router/card that could be affecting the transmit power?
