Nah. If United can't match his wages then Arsenal certainly won't, besides he and Van Persie don't get on.

He's a leader and an organiser as well as being a top notch centre back, just what the doctor ordered. I think this deal was going to happen regardless of the Utd result, he's been linked all summer and Chu was supposed to be signing for Lille, the deal was in place, price agreed and everything, they went to pick him up from his hotel only to find he'd left for London so I wouldn't abnk on Hazard siging this window...

Yes if there is one thing Arsenal have been crying out for it is a organiser but like all imports they need a bit of time to adapt.

It seems that Spurs think more of him?

Re: Football Season 2011/12
Is it too much to hope for 1 more defender (Cahill) 1 midfielder and another striker ? I'd even go as far as 1 more winger. so 4 very unlikely but bridges need to be built with fans and the fact our rivals have become extremely strong only adds to the need for it.

To be honest Wenger was in a no win situation as soon as they decided to leave it this late. There is nothing that suggests panic in the players chosen, they have clearly been scouted for some time and they address specific weaknesses that critics have been pointing out all season. Mertesacker is exactly the player pundits have said Arsenal needed, now they are changing the narrative to dam Wenger for getting a 'cheap' player who isn't fast.

Don't think we need another center back. We now have Mertesacker, Vermaelen and Koscielny to choose from with Djourou as 4th choice center back. We have two full backs and cover for those full backs. I think that's enough depth in defence now.
We're probably getting another midfielder, although not sure we need another winger. We need a creative playmaker and maybe a holding defender.

well we seem to be after another winger/fullback > http://www.skysports.com/story/0,,11670_7139142,00.html
Plus Miquel isn't half bad for a youngster but he needs loaning out. I still reckon we'll go back in for Cahill. A holding mid and creative as you say. I still feel we're short, it happens every season. Wenger goes in with way too much faith. He's got this thing where he wont stand tall against players, he massages their ego but he says he doesn't want to ruin their confidence. Someone needs to point out to him that players at Arsenal have been robbing the club for years now because of the lack of incoming transfers.
