Go to Settings / Devices / Power Saving Settings and select 'Always On'.

That should have worked. Does she pull the plug out when she's turned the TV off?

Does the TV has a sleep/wake on signal? If so can that be set so when she turns off/on the TiVo it can sleep/wake the TV?

Re: Box keeps switching off when tv is
That's what I was going to say. My Samsung TV seem to have this built in as part of it's 'Universal Remote' option

Re: Box keeps switching off when tv is
Could it be, that rather than the box is going off, she's actually having trouble selecting the HDMI input each time she turns the TV on? If so, connecting by SCART instead of HDMI might be the simplest solution, as SCART will auto-select. (An alternative could be to put a big yellow label on the SOURCE button on the TV remote to make it easier for her to find)
