2g connection cuts off, have to alternate between 5g and 2g. awful speeds.

over the past week noticed my connection is awful

but it has been really poor on the 2g network for past few months and i have had to resort to 5g network where i could to get online and some kind of usuable speed

i have superhub 2 ac2 router which i have had for past 2 years
will virgin upgrade this router?


no known issues in area

ive tried resetting with a paper clip, still the same issue

on wpa auto for both 5g and 2g in the settings menu

any advice?

the wireless on the shub2 is the best out of all the shubs and if it was working fine before and now it isn't then we need to look at what has changed. The chances are that somebody has set up a new router in close proximity to yours and they are both trying to use the same channel. Some come setup to use channel 6 by default. You could try manually changing it to 1 or 11 and see if it makes any difference or you could go the next step and download an app called wifi analyser on your phone/tablet which will scan the spectrum and see what access points are out there, tell you their ssids, what channel they are running on and the signal strength. Hopefully you will see your shub using channel 6 (as an example) and another ap with a strong signal using the same channel. All you need to do is change the channel you are using to one which the other ap is not.

Tbh though dude, unless you are looking for range, why don't you just 5ghz all the time?
