It's going to be a combination of factors though. Bandwidth coming in, segmentation of that traffic as well as the capabilities provided by the CMTS, added to a bunch of external factors.

The capabilities of the CTMS is to be able to provide 24/2 it states so ergo it can and has been updated. The delay is obviously being able to provide sufficient bandwidth ATM.

I'd like to hear about the external factors though.

Like folk are saying many things could be affecting what VM can offer you in your area. One thing that doesn't seem to be critical is the number of channels you have.

I have 16 down and 2 up, with a 300Mb connection.

The number of channels you are using is reflected in the number of populated columns. Everyone should be on 8 now minimum and if you have got a shub3 which you will probably be on 12+.
