Re: Renewals & Cancellations : 2011
Well, although Stargate Universe had already been cancelled, there had been a slight hope that the SG franchise may still return with some sort of TV movie (if not to wrap up SG:U, then perhaps the mooted SG:A movie or another SG-1 movie).
Alas, that hope has been dashed. Stargate is dead.
"SGU continuation, other movies dead — for now"

Stargate writer, executive producer and mastermind Brad Wright took the stage earlier today at Creation Entertainment’s Official Stargate Convention in Vancouver, British Columbia and proceeded to update and clear the air on the fate of the latest series, Stargate Universe.
“We just recently found out that the SGU movie is not going to happen,” Wright said during his stage panel today. “It took too long. We just couldn’t get it together in time, and the window has closed. It’s actually sad for me, because after 17 years, I’m cleaning out my desk tomorrow morning.”

Wright also confirmed that the proposed Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis movies have been permanently shelved, along with another movie idea he had been trying to get a greenlight on, which would have combined and involved cast members of all three series. Scripts for the first two of those projects, tentatively titled Stargate: Revolution and Stargate: Extinction (respectively), were completed well over a year ago.

Damn
I'm now at mid-season 7 of SG-1 on my Stargate run-through. Going to be re-watching SGA in parallel soon.

What's the matter? Ashamed to say that a Stargate-a-thon is better than a Trek-a-thon on here?
Shame that SGA won't get to finish it's storylines, that's what I hate about cliffhangers for a season ender. You may never find out what happens when the writers intended you to find out. I'm sure I read that SGU would end on a clifffhanger? Also has anyone else noticed that each franchise lasted half the amount of time than the one previously?

LOL, not ashamed, just didn't want to drag the thread further away.
Definitely a shame about Atlantis & Universe. I'd love more SG-1, but at least it ended properly. Atlantis left a lot to resolve, and Universe is going to end on a cliffhanger as you mentioned.
I mentioned on BXB that hopefully the scripts will at least get leaked or something, or perhaps turned into books. No idea if that's remotely likely though.

TBH, I wont miss SGU much. It just wasnt that good IMO, it was no surprise [to me] that it got killed off.
SGA was just starting to get interesting, shame that finished when it did, and I wish SG1 had continued as well. I thought they could have got another couple of seasons out of that.

You meant SGU, right? Both SG1 and SGA finished their regular series with a finale.

Re: Renewals & Cancellations : 2011
Both SG1 and SGA may of had a finale but SG1 got a movie to finish the storyline. SGA ended on a cliffhanger without a movie or 6th season wrap up the stories.

No it didn't. The Atlantis base ended-up on earth. That was it. I don't call that a cliff-hanger. Okay, yes. The story could have continued in the next film, but it wasn't - by definition - cliff-hanger as there was nothing to resolve in the next episode; 'cos there wasn't one

The story for those episodes may have not ended on a cliffhanger, but the arc story, which is what the series was about, certainly hadn't finished.
What about the Wraith now that Atlantis has gone etc?

Who cares? Seriously, I get your point but that's not the definition of 'cliff-hanger'

Don't get all "up in arms" about it, guys - anyone would think it was a "stripped down" version of SG you were talking about.....
