Question Wireless woes - Superhub

just had a new replacement superhub in the cafewhere we are - after all manner of problems with it

I can't seem to connect to the router/superhub in router mode - or can but the page doesn't seem to do anything - no buttons responsive and the refresh option is not given - other times you just can't bring up the page at all

the woman on the virgin support line says that wireless is not supported
but I wanted the cafe to have wireless access as a feature of the cafe

what are my options?

---

have rebooted and reset what seems like hundreds of times

Re: Wireless woes - Superhub

Tell Virgin to shove it, as "wireless is not supported" is a complete lie - the whole point of the Superhub's existence is so wireless is supported.

If they don't give you a satisfactory response leave, or buy your own router.

That said if you're planning on providing public access as a cafe then you should probably be asking someone qualified to set it up for you, there are plenty of legal issues as well as technical involved aside from the Shrub itself.

I'm beginning to wonder whether having the superhub was such a good idea really

as thinking back to the old setup it seemed to be fairly trouble free

Re: Wireless woes - Superhub

The Superhub was definitely a bad idea. The wireless on it has a notoriously bad reputation and even if it works perfectly for some lucky people even for them it never ends up as anything more than mediocre.

The Superhub 2 is claimed to be considerably better by those who have used it but apparently is still merely "average". But frankly if you wanted better wireless the Superhub is probably the worst move you could possibly make.

Re: Wireless woes - Superhub

I have an issue with my SH where I can connect to it with IE or Chrome from one of my desktops but the wireless page doesn't work. If I use IE from my laptop or spare desktop or my iPad it works fine!

I have established that the problem was my internet security (I use Kaspersky) but have never been able to resolve it, apart from turning off KIS when I want to access the SH.

Maybe you have a similar problem?

Re: Wireless woes - Superhub

this is what I got from my complaint

"I have checked with our faults team and they have advised that the router change should resolve the fault issue. They have also advised as we do not support wireless connection, its not something that is guaranteed with the business superhub.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience you have had with the faults and with regard to the wireless issue, I did ask if there were any possible solutions for you and I was advised to get a good wireless connection, you may benefit from purchasing 5 static IP's (Modem only) and purchase a separate router."
