Re: Cricket
England going well this morning Aussies with a 215 lead on day three so far.Hussey and haddin sure did a better job then our batsmen.
Come on KP your time has come in the 2nd innings, and a huge contribution will be needed by Englands batsmen just to get on an even score let alone take a lead.

Re: Cricket
England fight back....

Quote:
England had resumed 202 runs behind on 19-0 with Australia sensing victory.
But Strauss (110) put on 188 with Cook (132 not out) in an English record stand at Brisbane, and Cook then added 121 with Jonathan Trott (54 not out).
The tourists went to stumps on 309-1 and lead the Aussies by 88 runs, with the draw looking the likely outcome.

Re: Cricket
I watched till about 3am then wen`t bo-bo`s, well chuffed for the guys when i clocked the score this morning, they can bat on Aussie pitches
England should go out on day 5 and try and smash as many runs as possible as quickly as possible then shove the Aussies in for an awkward afternoon session. A couple of quick wickets and you never know!
Congrat to Strauss for equaling Len Hutton on 19 test hundreds

Re: Cricket
I'm really happy for Cook, hes had so much stick over the past year or so with people calling for him to be dropped and hes put in a great performance in two high pressure innings. Hopefully he'll get better throughout the series with the confidence hes gained from this game.

Yes congrats to cook the england team are doing well to fight back,i must admit i thought they may have done what england did in the past aussies with over a 200 lead heads down and go on a kamikaze mission its to their credit this has not happened and a draw looks on the cards.
As an aside its funny how when most players have a bad patch the press/public call for their heads the only person whose head was not called for by the "experts" as he went/is going through a terrible patch was "teflon" pietersen who seems impervious to any critiscism.

Re: Cricket
I do hope they don't drop Mitchell Johnson.
Apparently they designated the last day as a fancy dress day, all of the Aussie supporters turned up as plastic seats.
Jim.

Re: Cricket
A win by an innings and 71 runs is as comprehensive a win as you could imagine really.
Not only did the Aussie fans not show up, the bad weather didn't either...

Well done England for pressing home their advantage but we've been here before so let's hope this team really has the killer instinct so many before them have sorely missed.

Re: Cricket
Interesting - the 70 quick runs they added yesterday proved to be the difference. Good captaincy or luck?
Anyway - well done lads - keep up the pressure.

Re: Cricket
It was very decent of those Aussie chaps to capitulate so easily, how thoughtful of them to let me get to bed early this morning.

Re: Cricket
Yes, there's usually an element of luck in sporting events like these and there are so many variables which can affect a result in cricket. From what I saw of the highlights, so there were so many chances and near misses yesterday that, if taken, would have ended the game that much earlier.
Having said that, the technology they now use (e.g. the snickometer, hot spot camera, hawkeye) goes a long way to eradicating the sort of bad decisions (sometimes very difficult & sometimes just plain awful) which used to cost matches and indeed, series. In this respect at least, the old farts at the ICC really do put their FIFA counterparts to shame.

It did after lunch, the heavens opened apparently, which makes it even more sweeter that we finished them off in the first session
