Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window
interesting piece not just about Arsenal...
http://www.theguardian.com/football/...errati-arsenal
those names going outbound at Arsenal is pretty much a step forward but as for replacements names... some of those are step backwards again. i'm not a big fan of Verratti.

This is stupid, as if he can't afford it
"
Chelsea fans are to start a collection to pay the £8,000 fine handed to manager Jose Mourinho by the Football Association for improper conduct in his side's recent defeat to Aston Villa.

Veratti was described as a striker heading for arsenal despite not scoring a single goal in forty seven appearances in some rag the other day, the standard of sports journalism is diabolical. I rate mandukich highly and draxler although not highly enough to spell their names correctly obviously.

Yes getting Verrati would certainly be a backward step.

They will say its a Wenger type of signing Can't blame them to be honest, ending up with a Veratti type after flirting with top qaulity is the norm.
I've only seen Morata play out of the 3 young strikers. Dortmund want him.
Alvaro Morata
Josip Drmic
Sardar Azmoun
Drmic is being touted as something special.

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window
UEFA taking a stand on the issue of loanee players playing against their owning clubs:
http://www.uefa.org/about-uefa/admin...d=2088774.html
Quote:
Both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations contain clear provisions which strictly forbid any club to exert, or attempt to exert, any influence whatsoever over the players that another club may (or may not) field in a match.
It follows that any provision in a private contract between clubs which might function in such a way as to influence who a club fields in a match is null, void and unenforceable so far as UEFA is concerned.
Furthermore, any attempt to enforce such a provision would be a clear violation of both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations and would therefore be sanctioned accordingly.
|
So Thibaut Courtois can play and any contract that says he cannot play against Chelsea is ' null, void and unenforceable'.
Good.
It's a shame it won't happen in the Premier League but for some reason Wenger was attacked for expressing the exact same sentiments that are now being applauded!
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footba...arsene-3395418
Although that's partly because the media decided Wenger's comments were boring so instead pretended he said something else....

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window
I just think it should be left to the clubs to agree that players can or can't play each other. I think it was Lua Lua scoring on loan for Pompey against his parent club Newcastle which brought about the current rule. Regarding Courtois, I read that Chelsea and Atletico Madrid agreed a lower loan fee for him, but who suggested the fee for playing against us I'm not sure. I think he should play, he's played against us before. In the end I imagine that if he goes on loan their next year, they'll end up paying a lot more than this year to compensate. If he doesn't sign a contract extension he'll not go out on loan anyway.

I think either you can players from playing against their own clubs in cups and banning loans within the league or you let them play against the club. When the players is especially good then all your league rivals have to play against that player but you don't.

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window
I agree with UEFA on the violation of influencing who and when a loanee can play to a certain degree, I do think the can't play against parent club clause should stand if they want it in the contract terms.

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window
The Premier League have swapped the days the Sky games between Chelsea v Sunderland and Hull v Arsenal are on. Chelsea v Sunderland now Saturday 19th April at 17.30 and Hull City v Arsenal now Sunday 20th April at 14.05. Both still live but there's bound to be loads of fans that have already booked travel in advance for a cheaper deal. They said they would do this but I never believed them as it's not been done over here before. It's about time though. I think they need to consider the possibility of Friday night games in the future as well. It happens all over Europe apart from here.

I can blame them, verratti isn't a striker, although perhaps arsene will convert him like he was going to do with draxler, why they can't just sign a ready made of the peg goalscorer is beyond me.
I heard mr Tann saying the other day that he thought team details had been leaked and assumed it was just the rantings of a mad man barking at the moon but now we gear someones been sacked and another suspended over it.

I don't understand why it's about time? This just screws over the fans. They need to give more than 8 days notice!
I agree on Friday Night games though.
