I know today they have announced that voice chat won't work between the X360 and X1.

Re: The Xbox One Thread
I don't see much appeal in either console anymore. They don't look anything like next generation if you're a heavy pc gamer like myself. I loved the online system on the 360 but there isn't going to be that many changes to warrant calling it next gen. Bigger console with some memory and graphics upgrades filled with false lies of live streaming and video capturing of which isn't the case anymore. Ships with a poorly made headset that will break after a month so they can charge you 20 quid for a new one. Wireless headset available but the 500 quid price tag isn't enough to ship it in the box so you'll be forking out 40 quid for that. Heavily rendered screen shots and trailers combined with game play that was actually produced by a GTX 780. A controller that runs on AA batteries despite being 1 upped by Sony last time round.
Naturally none of this matters when you have a fan base as delusional as Apple users that will lap up any piece of crap set in front of them.

I'm amazed that this had to even be announced.
We already knew that there's no backwards compatibility between the two so what would be the point?

I think it lets you text message someone on an Xbox 360, not sure what the point is though if you can't play games with them?

It isn't a hard feature to implement. It essentially already exists. Xbox live works on both Xbox and Pc with both sides sending and receiving messages as well as a note saying playing w.e game on GFWL. Remember your gamertags won't be changing and should you still have them on xbox live whilst they're using a 360 you'll appear to them as using X1.
Smartglass. PC. Xbox One. Xbox 360.
The four ways to communicate throughout xbox live
As for voice communication indeed is restricted to its console but it's plausible Skype for XBL will solve that anyway.

Re: The Xbox One Thread
GFWL only has private chat though, not parties, which nobody uses since NXE.

Re: The Xbox One Thread
Microsoft has delayed the launch of the console in 8 countries until 2014, luckily for the UK guys it is still scheduled for a November release.

Strictly not Xbox One, but Dead Rising 2 and DR2 Case Zero are currently FREE for xbox live gold members to download until the end of August.
