I don't like the new Tardis with it's bloody typewriter and other bits of junk on the console.
Witht he exception of the 1st angels episode I think the episodes up until now have been weak.
It really needs to ramp up over the second half of the run.

I have totally enjoyed everything about the new series, apart from the Dalek episode, that was a bit weak.
Everything has a classic Who feel about it, the look of the Tardis inside and out. Moffat is a big fan of the Cushing movies, which is where most of the styling comes from.

I have to agree about the episodes being pretty weak. This Saturday's was poor, and I thought the ending rushed because they couldn't come up with anything better.

Re: Doctor Who : Season 5
I think the episodes are too short anyway. They should be for an hour, I think. But I presume it set at forty-five minutes to sell to commercial stations overseas.
I remember classic Who stories being spread over several twenty minute episodes and lasted for weeks.

Re: Doctor Who : Season 5
I still feel Matt Smith does not have the strength of personality or acting ability to portray a viable Doctor.
I only wish the BBC had not signed him for a 2 season deal as he just isn't cutting it.

Re: Doctor Who : Season 5
So far each of the doctors has brought a little something special to the role.
William Hartnell - Old Professor, with a darker side
Patrick Troughton - Clown but knows more than he reveals.
Jon Pertwee - Action Doctor, not afraid of using venusian martial arts.
Tom Baker - Brought an alien touch to the doctor, more mystery
Peter Davidson - Lighter side of the doctor, Not the strongest doctor, but did well
Colin Baker - Dark side of the doctor
Sylvester McCoy - Circus clown doctor
Paul McGann - Doctor who follows his heart
Christopher Ecclestone - The broken doctor who has seen and lost too much, finding love and losing it.
David Tennant - Doctor healing his heart, lonely but determined not to fail
Matt Smith - meh.
Oh, and for the 2 Doctor Who films with Peter Cushing - He was obviously replacing hartnell so see hartnell for a reference.
I can't see what Matt Smith has brought to the role that none of the others have. He seems to have tried to amalgamate several doctors, and missed.

Re: Doctor Who : Season 5
I have to agree with Lord Nikon.
For me Matt Smith is the worst Doctor ever, Karen Gillan is one dimensional and just gets on my nerves and to cap it all the stories are really weak.
I suppose we have been spoilt by David Tennant and Billie Piper who together breathed new life into what was really a tired old series. Together they raised the bar so high I doubt it will ever be equalled.

Re: Doctor Who : Season 5
I think Matt Smith is a very good Doctor to tell the truth and even though some of the story lines aren't top notch, i would like to see Matt Smith and Karen Gillan do another series.

Re: Doctor Who : Season 5
They signed smith for 2 series. Not sure about karen gillan though.
By the way, looks like 1 more episode for this season making it a 10 episode season plus the obligatory christmas special.

10 episodes?
This series has 13, as per usual.

Not sure where you got that from - its a standard 13 ep season, finishing on Jun 27th (the date the doctor saw in an earlier ep).

I was looking on tv.com and there's only 10 episodes listed.

It's 3 years for Matt Smith, and 13 episodes this season ... as per every full season since 2005. Apart from that you were spot on.

Re: Doctor Who : Season 5
For the first time since Dr Who returned with Christoper Eccleston, I got bored watching an episode of Dr Who and turned over.
No doubt I'll finish watching it over the next week just to keep up to date.
I've watched every episode since its return, and don't get me wrong there's been some bad episodes in that time, but I've never been bored before.
I couldn't have cared less if the Silurians took over world or not.
This season, bar one episode, is just lacking in atmosphere and suspense, and it's a combination of things.
The stories are weak, and I'm afraid Matt Smith and Karen Gillan are just not cutting it.
