well it isn't really in two parts, it is just the mid-season break that all series take over xmas. I am actually glad that it is coming back so soon in January because many series leave it till February and then you get stupid series TWD that don't come back till March by which time it had might as well be a new season.

Re: Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Its definitely two parts.
The US TV xmas break doesnt start until mid December, through til Mid/Late Jan, this is ending at the start of November, until an unspecified date in Jan 2018.
I expect its simply to give them time to finish those later eposides off, since filming started late, and they will need a lot of post production work.
I completely agree. I want a good new scfi series to watch but at the same time I really don't want to watch this because I think it is going to be too much like the new movies and less Star Trek as we know it. For me Star Trek is TNG/DS9/Voyager and this looks nothing like it.
The sad thing is that I can almost predict the future. The series will be cancelled because nobody like it and they are so stupid that instead of realising their mistakes, they'll just think nobody wants to watch Star Trek anymore and they left it too long after Voyager.
They need to keep the theme and spirit of the previous series and set it in the future on the Relativity.

Re: Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Despite its various issues, CBS have apparently renewed the series for a second season.

While CBS are not expected to make a ‘formal’ announcement until after the September 24 premiere, sources say a second season has been internally beamed up for a late 2018 release.
