Voip dd-wrt +wrt54
I am needing some help
is there any one on here can help
i'm trying to set up a cisco 7960 IP phone on my system
my router has dd-wrt installed Firmware: DD-WRT v23 (10/27/05)
im trying to use either voiptalk or sipgate as provider
if gone through all the configs i can they should all be ok and all should be working
i tried the portforwrd route and set the ports up that not work
so i tried the sipath route put in my details in the sippath config ie
sip port 5065
sip domain nat.voiptalk.org
i can dial test numbers on both services all OK
but cannot recieve any incomming calls both services show me as offline
but i know of no one who i can dial to on either of these services to test on a normal call if any one can help on this also
do i need to set nat tranversal up on phone as its off at moment
and if i do which IP do i use the router 192.168.1.1 or my IP supplied by ISP 80.xx.xx.xx
ive been at this over a week now and still bangiing my head against a wall
have tried support on both but all i get is dont support that phone or router

Re: Voip dd-wrt +wrt54
yea post it, i want to get into the whole voip thing but the technology side of it is less than clear. if its doable as a real life alternative i'll be changing my wrt54g for the voip/adsl/wireless router version.

If Incog gave a prize for most cryptic/technobabble thread title, this would be a serious contender

Re: Voip dd-wrt +wrt54
You plug a spare port of your WRT56G into the WAN/Internet port of your VOIP device. It does the rest?
I have a vonage linksys device, the only other thing I had to do was enable remote management (as I am accessing it from my WRT and it is hooked into the WAN port (so effectivly remote). Once that was done off it went.
Also set up QoS to prioritse any traffic from that port.

Wrt54G Router running dd-wrt Fimrware
work with Firmware
Firmware: DD-WRT v23 (10/27/05)
DO NOT PORT FORWARD ANY PORTS REQUIRED for VOIP as SIPath does it all for you
Go to Administration Tab
Find SIPath
SIP PORT : 5065
SIP Domain : nat.voiptalk.org
Goto Sipath tab
select status tab
look at SER PROCESSES
should look similar to this
First Receiver Process per IP:Port
1 6387 receiver child=0 sock=0 @ 127.0.0.1:5065
3 6389 receiver child=0 sock=1 @ MY WAN IP :5065
5 6391 receiver child=0 sock=2 @ 192.168.1.1:5065
ports should be 5065
if not click on "Restart SER" Button
now wait
after its restarted check to make sure ports have changed to 5065
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
reboot phone and router
after all has rebooted should now work

Re: Voip dd-wrt +wrt54
harman cheers
good point bout the access being remote. U set the Qos from within windows or the config page of the router? So do u pay for line rental at all? The phones u have hooked up to are DECT? Those i have are plus combined digital ans machine. how about line quality, strength both to land and mobile? Do u know if distance from the exchange or size of bandwidth affect it in any way?
dwabbit, yep my router is the v1.1 with Sept 05 firmware just installed so please keep posting.
cheers all, u see i can do plain english

Re: Voip dd-wrt +wrt54
QoS from the config page. I pay for line rental but a different number is on that line for a different purpose (two businesses at one location).
I have it hooked up to a BT Featureline featurephone and it is fab, callers from the US come through with text + number caller display, the red light comes on for voicemail etc.
It is on a Demon line upgraded to 2Mb, works great. I can see the phone exchange from the office, probably makes it about 1/2 a mile as the crow flies, don't know about cable length though.
I now have 3 of these blue linksys jobbies sitting in the corner plugged into the BT socket and structured cable. Looks well wired. I need to take a picture of my handywork.

I not pay for any line rental as at moment i only plan to use it to ring other Ip phone users
with my Sipgage and Voiphone accounts i was given a standard phone number as well so peeps on normal phone lines can ring me on it as well
with Sipgate ive got a number with the same local Dial code that im in
Ive not Played with the QOS yet but if i do it will be the QOS in the router setting that i play with and not the PC
@bucketbakereturn what phone do you plan to use ?
