Julian Assange: Wikileaks Founder Arrested
BREAKING: Swedish investigators drop Rape investigation on Julian Assange, this now means Mr Assange can leave the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, with no fear of arrest.
http://news.sky.com/story/prosecutor...sange-10883877
Edit: There is still a possibility he will be arrested if the United States have made a request to U.K. Authorities that they want him extradited to the US.

He has also still broken his bail conditions so can be arrested for that. Personally I would just tell him to leave the country and not to come back.

Re: Julian Assange: Swedish Investigators Drop Rape Investigation
Why do they want to arrest him? Obama's administration have been leaking classified documents all over the place, it'd be hypocritical to then arrest this man. Then again Hypocritical is generally exclusive to the United States nowadays. Chelsea Manning only recently being released. So once again, it's acceptable to break the law for your own agenda but not okay when it's going against you.
Trump should pardon him of any wrongdoing and gain some support.

Re: Julian Assange: Swedish Investigators Drop Rape Investigation
We should not extradite anyone to any country from who we can not extradite people on the same basis. So if we can't get US citizens extradited from the US on the same level of evidence/basis neither should we allow our citizens to be extradited to the US.
This would be in addition to not extraditing to countries with questionable legal systems or where a penalty unacceptable to the UK legal system is possible (death penalty).

Manning has given clemency after a 7 year jail sentence. Not pardoned. Her conviction stands.
I don't know exactly why the US would want to arrest him. He has largely been ok since he wasn't the person who leaked the data. It may just be rumors he he has put out there, if they do want him they might have other charges.
Obama's administration was one of the toughest on leakers though and it seems that won't change under the current administration either.

Re: Julian Assange: Swedish Investigators Drop Rape Investigation
You would think that in a sense, wikileaks did publish lots of Hillary Clinton campaign emails, that some would argue helped Trump in to the White House. But Trump Administration, specifically US Attorney General, Jeff Sessions and CIA Director, Mike Pompeo, still see Assange and Wkileaks as hostile entity to the US that has leaked Intelligence to the world.

Re: Julian Assange: Swedish Investigators Drop Rape Investigation
IMHO Assange has leaked nothing. His site (Wikileaks) is merely a conduit for those who leak info. As such I cannot see any law he may have broken.
Are those who've leaked the classified information less Guilty? It should be those the powers that be should be going after.
Trump has said so many times.

BREAKING: Ecuador has confirmed it has granted naturalisation to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

He'll need a lot of suncreen for Ecuador after being in that Embassy for years !
Question is how does he leave without us arresting him for skipping bail ? We'll turn a blind eye if we've got any sense (which we haven't).

Re: Julian Assange: Wikileaks Founder
He can't leave without us arresting him. The nationalisation makes no difference apart from the fact that he can eventually go to Ecuador.

He can risk it then but quite how he gets out of the country might be an issue. He is in the middle of Kensington...

He cannot, I would have thought he was still on Interpol...so he cannot slip through any border without being arrested still.
