50Mb Wanting a Gb LAN Segment Router

I am onto my second Netgear Router because of the initial router kept dropping the wireless signal whilst running 11g Wireless with WPA TKIP security as do not have any devices that support 11n without a dongle and none have expressed a need for WLAN connection greater than 20mbps (basically because I have not told them they can get faster connection [ it's mine ]).

However, I would like a router than has a Gigabit LAN segment. I have transfer some large files from my PC to my NAS and my Mediaplayer supports a Gigabit connection.

My concern is that some of the routers available may not be able to support the 50mbps connection through the Router firewall (my previous Draytek Router's firewall could only support a throughput of 25-30mpbs).

Running AES security for the WLAN will place additional load on the router (it is not as processor efficient as WPA TKIP) and in consideration of the recent publication of the breaking of WPA TKIP I am reluctant to lower the security level of the WLAN from WPA(2) AES.

I have UPnP and QoS disabled (these were the entry to compromising WPA TKIP).

Has anyone experience of a Gigabit router on Virgin 50mbps whilst also running WPA(2) AES on 11g or 11n.

Leave the router as it is and pop a Gigabit switch on your network. Connect the machines that need the Gbit connection to the switch and the uplink port on the switch if it has one or just any port on it to a port on the router and job is done without messing up the wireless network.
