Good question.

Its description is a DSL router for CABLE customers, which is a bit confusing really.

Also, the tech specs are odd, it says its not compatible with most Windows O/S....very strange.

Reading the reviews, I probably wouldn't get it myself. I'd recommend (along with many others on here), to go for a linksys or belkin. It will be money well spent

I am not sure of this, it says dsl for cabel customers ..so cant predict..
I you are using virgin media, cabel internet connection..
go for linksys or belkin router
i can give some info on belkin routers..
if its cabel internet go for F5D 7230 or F5D 7231 or F5D 9230.
if its virgin from tel line ( ADSL ) internet connection go fo F5D 7632 , F5D 7633 or F5D 9630.
Above mentioned are model no for Belkin Routers, i am not sure about model no in Linksys routers

Cable customers are DSL. Anyone using an ISP down a BT line would be ADSL.

Get Belkin if it is ten years old and it breaks they just replace it.

What are you talking about, DSL technology is for Internet over telephone lines. Cable is completely different delivery system that is not tied to a telephone exchange.

I have 2 Belkin routers. My first 1 was adsl becouse i was with bt. When i moved house i went to telewest (cable) and therefor i had to go get a dsl router.

adsl is for phone lines

Dsl in this instance stands for Digital subscriber line whereas Adsl stands for Asymetrical digital subscriber line.These terms are normally assigned to internet down a telephone line so I can see why there is confusion.

This has an ethernet wan so would connect to a Adsl modem with ethernet output or a cable router there is no modem integrated to this router

I am now wondering "why does my modem HAVE to be dsl because i am cable"

Adsl one never worked. Why?

simply put it isnt

An adsl router would not work as it has a modem installed and does not have a wan port for your cable modem to be attached.
The router saying its a DSL/Cable would work with both if a adsl modem was attached to it via a wan port. The router in question is simpley a internet router with 4 port switch and wireless gateway it could not connect to the internet without a modem either cable or adsl connected to it.

And also zing, something you said about pc world. That's the place i got it and those were the c**ts that said to change my router.
