As I said, there's no perfect solution whatever you do in such situations. Of course matches can be turned around (Greg Norman knows all about that
)but I still think my suggestion's fairer because at least it's based on
actual scores (albeit not over the full 18 holes) and for every match that might have gone the other way if it had proceeded to the 18th, there'll be another which wouldn't have.
In a way it's similar to the golden goal concept in football in which the first team to score wins (even though had play continued for a fixed period as with traditional extra time, the other side may have come back and won the match).
