New Kid On The Block "Angie". Is it a Con?
Recombu is reporting that a new company called Angie is to build a FTTP network to millions of homes offering speeds of 10Gbps. It's also building a nationwide wireless network too. Link here:
https://recombu.com/digital/article/...ister-interest
I've gone onto Angie's website and read through bits of their 170 page business plan and think it's all a load of guff.
What do you think? Are they genuine? Have you ever heard of them before? I think they may be a trap to lure in ill informed investors. If I'm wrong, they could be the best thing since sliced bread for this country.

.... I missed that when it was posted on isp review. Thanks.
Just looking at the twitter conversation between the company and other people, it's clear this company is not for real.
A con it is!

I think it's fair to say there's more chance of me having XGPON installed in my rectum than there is of that guy doing a major fixed and wireless rollout in the UK.

The plot thickens on this one.... Recombu is reporting that Angie has secured £700m in funding. If they're a fraud, some people are going to lose a lot of dosh. What the hell is going on here?

They've repeatedly claimed to have "secured" insignificant amounts of funding, none of which has ever come to anything.
£700m won't even pay for a license to start running a mobile network, let alone build three and a fibre network with it.

Re: New Kid On The Block "Angie". Is it a Con?
I just did a quick check on the private equity firm that has invested £700m in Angie, and like Angie it is Dutch registered. The company is called NSL & Co and its founding partner is Neal S. Lachman who is also the boss of Angie....
I'll slap myself a few times and stop trying to talk myself into thinking this has anything other than fraud written all over it.

I should imagine that even cabling a couple of reasonably sized areas (so they can ensure they can finance their own builds as much as possible, thus minimising loans and therefore costs) is going to cost a few billion..

A DEAL to make Slough the world’s ‘first wireless city’ has sensationally collapsed, with the telecoms company in question(Angie Communications) pulling out and the Borough Council distancing itself from the venture.
