Whats the difference between CAT 5 and CAT 5e patch cable, which one is better?

Which is the best Patch cable out there for a cable modem/VM modem?

Thanks

Cat 5e has lower signal loss which enables it to carry 1Gbps + speeds.

Cat 5 is only rated to carry 100Mbps, which is still more than sufficient for VM's service, although both will work.

so, arguably 5e is 'better' - but only if you use 1000baseT

The 'best' cable is the cheapest well made one you can get in the length you require

Its just that with my blue Cat 5 cable which you get with a Virgin Media Modem, I keep getting disconnected, so im using an Xbox Live Patch cable (think its CAT 5e) and that works fine.

Probably just a faulty cable.

As noted above, Cat 5e is better, but you'll only notice the difference on 1000Mbps + connections.
