HELP! Linksys wrk54g

Help! I have a WRK54G router V1.1 with firmware 1.58.03 which keeps dropping the connection. With wireless disabled and one wired connection it will work for a while but if i enable wireless or plug more than 1 in it drops every few minutes. Linksys say this is faulty, but the wireless has worked before with no problem. Any ideas anyone?

It's faulty?

If Linksys say it is so why not send it back to them and let them fix it.

Re: HELP! Linksys wrk54g

I had a similar problem on my WRT54G, on wireless side was fine, wired side kept dropping connection, reason being the ethernet cables linksys supply are rubbish. Replaced the cable had no problems since.

Re: HELP! Linksys wrk54g

I'm assuming your router has the latest version of the firmware installed? have you got WPA or at least WEP security on the wireless. What happens if you try a different wireless frequency channel?

When it falls over are you running anything like P2P (torrents) or just doing internet borwsing type stuff?

Re: HELP! Linksys wrk54g

Router has 1.58.03 firmware which is the latest version available on the Linksys site with no 3rd party firmware available. I have used Utorrent on this system before, but have disabled it as part of my onngoing fight to try and get the system diagnosed. Nothing seems to improve the situation at all. I feel that maybe i have bought the worst router in the world lol. With everyone recommending the WRT54G as a router it just seems so polorized that Linksys seemingly got it so wrong with this one.

Re: HELP! Linksys wrk54g

It's a cut down WRT54G, with only one antenna, a slower processor and less onboard memory... So yeah, if you can get rid entirely, that's your best bet. I had one for about a month, during which time it dropped wireless signals way too many time,s normally when i used Skype, or any online game.

Quirky little router, but nonetheless, flawed.

Yup, fantastic little routers Did they send it to you as a replacement of the WRK model? If so, then Kudos to them!
