I watched it myself. Although there are comedic moments I would not describe it as a comedy, there appears to be a deeper undercurrent.

According to Seth McFarlane it will be exploring all sides of the genre, comedy, light side dark side and all inbetween.

IMHO it may well end up being a classic series.

Bottom line, I enjoyed it (especially "Arbour Day") and I'll watch again and give it a chance.
